MauroVega Report by Fenixflames
Your Byond Key: Fenixflames
Your Character Name: Kasius 'Kingsman' Kayne and then Larva (418) the last 2 minutes of the round.
Their Byond key: MauroVega
Approximate time and date of the incident (Central Us Time for best results): 7:00 PM CST
Which Staff Protocols (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=5647) were broken:
2. Investigate the situation
3. Determine the seriousness of the issue (The round was ending, everyone laughed about the suicide. Nothing was broken, no one cried.)
5. Determine the punishment. (My death as a larva caused no major or any disruption to the round.)
Description of the incident:
I started the round late game as Kasius 'Kingsman' Kayne as a PFC. Went down to the colony for about 15-20 minutes before a Full Evac was called by the Commander. Get back to the Almayer in one piece. Resume roleplaying for awhile until it was time for the Xenos to board the Almayer.
I get killed while attempting to leave the CIC. Ghosted and proceeded to watch the SD defense in it's last moments. Watched as the Queen gets slain in the SD.
My Xeno-Join preference kicks in and I spawn as a larva.
I end up seeing 1 or 2 larvas making their way to the SD from the Alamo, so I follow.
So I'm thinking "Hey, the rounds about to end anyways. So I'll go check out the SD as a larva."
I see the Xenos converging on the last few marines in the SD button room and decide to draw some fire while the other Xenos break into the last room and finish them off.
So I maneuver around the room a bit, drawing the flamethrower's attention before he finally gets me with the flamer.
He gets killed. MauroVega messages me about the same time. The round ends about 30 seconds (or a minute) after I die.
He asks me why did I rush the SD. I tell him why.
He warns me and then says he'll notate it and then later, after the round restarts, he changes his minds and tells me he's gonna ban me instead.
While I understand every staff is different and dishes out punishment differently. I feel this 24 hour ban on a suicide larva case is a bit severe.
Especially, I know for sure as far as "suicidal larva" goes, This is my first actual time doing such a thing.
In closing, it was the last few seconds of the round, I ran in as a larva. Died. No one was upset, no one reported it, no one cried. No harm, no foul. I mean, people in DChat actually just laughed about it. This punishment he dished out could've been handled in another fashion.
Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc):
The round ended and MapDaemon kicked in after the conversation so I wasn't able to take any screenshots. I'm sure you guys have access to the logs though, so I'm not worried.
How you would punish the accused: Perhaps just extend his trial a little longer? I work in Human Resources and when it comes to dealing with people, you gotta look at stuff like this from all angles and determine if it was even a serious deal to begin with or dismissed as just "he's just being funny".
Perhaps a little coaching about how to handle situations on a case-by-case basis instead of dolling out bans as soon as you can find out you are able to do so.

Doesn't matter if no one reported it or were upset about it, it's the big not okay.

That's the thing though, I wasn't a "suicide larva".
The round was about to end. I didn't wanna sit in the Alamo and wait for the round to end and not doing anything as a larva. So I went to go be useful.

Re: MauroVega Report by Fenixflames
I'm just trying to understand as well, that when certain players do it. It's a "oh my god, he broke a rule!" type of deal.
And others just get a "Oh haha, lol. He's just being funny!"
This goes for certain things done as Commanders as well, but that's a story for another day.
Anywho, I wasn't trying to be a suicide larva. Suiciding as a larva would mean I went there with the intention of dying. I went there with the intention of helping.

It doesn't matter what your intention was, the outcome is the issue, and that you did it willingly makes it such a big deal. And pulling the "oh but this other guy got different treatment" card is like me calling you gay and then you saying 'no u' in response. That's a super lame excuse.

All right, I'm sorry. I shouldn't had said that. Just trying to state that that's the kind of stuff that happens around the SS13 community though.
it's ran by players for the players, so it's easy for stuff like that to happen, so it bothers me.

Re: MauroVega Report by Fenixflames
After reviewing this thread its very clear you were in the wrong in regards to running around SD as a Larva. As you said, the round was close to ending but what stopped you from waiting outside SD, Evolving and then trying to be "useful" as you said.
As for the punishment that was handed out, if you were told you were getting warned and then it was switched to a ban then I'm a bit iffy on that but I'm assuming MauroVega can elaborate on that.
All in all, you broke the rules and you unfortunately have to suffer the consequences.

Re: MauroVega Report by Fenixflames
Yeah right clicking a larva that is moving around like sonic and has 10 other items on the same tile was painfull, so it took my some time to get his notes, and after seeing his long history it wasn't a first offense

Round ending or not, this has no impact on the rules and everything that is a rule during the round is still one once it ends. Combat Larva is always against the rules and this is no exception. Resolved - No protocols were broken by MauroVega
