Staff report: unknown

Post by Brotemis » 27 Jun 2018, 10:35

Your Byond Key: Brotemis

Your Character Name: Giovanni 'Rhino' Romani

Their Byond key:

Approximate time and date of the incident (Central Us Time for best results): ~7:45pm Central 7-26-2018

Which Staff Protocols (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=5647) were broken:

Do not abuse your power
- This should go without saying, but abusing your power as staff can - and will - result in swift punishment.

Preserve the RP and enjoyment of the server

Description of the incident:
To make a long story short, an scp-173 randomly popped up on the Almayer. It was named 'sculpture' and from a meta viewpoint, clearly distinct in what it was and what it did. From a non meta viewpoint, it was eventually discovered that it moves extremely fast and will snap necks, instantly killing people, if it was not being watched.

It was eventually somehow lured onto a dropship and moved to the planet to remove the threat from the ship. After some goofing around with the sculpture by the marines, it was decided to crush it using a dropship since knives and guns did nothing. Sculpture is pulled to the landing zone and is being watched by marines

It is at this point an unknown admin started teleporting the sculpture around. This is where it starts becoming abuse and breaking RP because it was demonstrated the statue cannot move while being watched.

Eventually the sculpture was resprited to a normal active flare and even renamed to 'flare.' It was at this point that the Marines started getting murdered left and right by a flare. The flare was captured in a coffin eventually and was teleported out by the same admin I'm guessing. Dead chat is obviously having a riot with this because dead chat is horrible in general. The flare proceeds to murder MANY (15+) marines and is eventually renamed suspicious flare.

It's one thing to resprite and rename the sculpture. It's another to name and sprite it something marines use in every single round and strikes me as extremely spiteful and low RP because the Marines acted appropriately around the sculpture.

Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc): I did not take any screenshots. Logs of var, name and sprite changing are easily found

How you would punish the accused:
Warn said admin and review previous complaints about them to see if a pattern of 'sketchy' but not code of conduct breaking behavior is seen. This is a basic betrayel of trust for admins from the players. We aren't perfect, but that doesn't mean we have to tolerate bad behavior disguised as an "admin event."

I am the staff member who run the bus

To put it simply, Chowder was doing a simple event of his own on the ship, which took a pretty significant time to set up. During this, I agreed to spawn SCP-173 in the planetary armory and keep an eye on it with other admins online, mostly Cry who agreed with it, though no-one raised objections

Since SCP-173 can be stuck or abused very easily, I had to move him manually regularly, but generally the killcount was really small and the event was mostly RP-focused. SCP-173 was captured, brought to R&D without small trouble, and artificially broken out twice and recaptured both times before the Marines had enough and sent it back down "to kill Xenos". At this point it prolly killed 4-5 people, mostly with people intentionally getting in harm's way for RP's sake, and an unlucky Doctor

Once it got back down to the planet, it was moved around again (lack of vents makes it hard to navigate), got a few kills. I then got an idea to spike up the round, since it was starting to run late (about 2 hours in, stalemate-ish situation. If I remember correctly I was looking at a 10-15 Xeno to 50-60 Marines counter). I disguised it as a flare and then put it in a location to the side of the frontline

I'm aware it was a pretty nasty trick, and that it would kill people, but I was encouraged to keep it going past the first kill or two because deadchat reacted positively to it (Read: Amusement/excitement at seeing people fall for it and get killed, and the general absurdity of Medics and whole squads rushing in to stabilize and defend the wounded with the threat blatantly still here) and I got no objections from admin staff despite warning them multiple times of what I was preparing

This is definitely not something I'd throw in as a minor bus, it kinda evolved major as the round dragged on, as SCP-173 alone is extremely easy to counter and needs heavy-handed admin intervention to be a credible threat

In closing, I left this event to another admin (Cry) as it was extremely late so he could delete it or fix it if it ran wild and left, assuming it would screw with Xenos like it did with Marines to at least even it out in spirit (it was in the Nexus when I closed my game)

I have nothing else to say specifically about the case, at least for now

I was the one holding the statue near the dropship when it was twice teleported away.

It was a focal part of the round and generated a metric shit ton of RP for the round, even if it did kill people on both sides.

I had no problems with it whatsoever as it relates to having flashbangs dropped (which I tried to throw away!) or the teleportation thing. It was great fun, do it again.

Thanks.

It looks like this was a finely run event that added to the RP of the round. I see no reason to take any action against Dylan.
