Description of the incident: I had began to complain in deadchat about hunter games, and I am not the only one who was doing so, and was explaining how I come here for the actual game mode, not the alt they just released. There was no vote before HG was activated, and I did get into the game and played it. I wasn't mad about losing, its just a game, I've had a distaste for the game mode since it began like others. Absynth decided it would be prudent to let me know that my opinion didn't matter to anyone, and I did have a fit of anger where I said things I shouldn't have, but nothing happened until later when I was complaining with other players and saying how it would benefit the game mode to have its own server. Suddenly and inexplicably I was muted from deadchat and used Ahelp to complain about unprofessional nature of my discipline. I received no reply, nor any notification that my ahelp would be addressed. I proceeded to us LOOC to complain about how I was muted without explanation, and the rest of my communication functions were disabled as well.

I waited until that round ended, and at the start of the new round I contacted Absynth using ahelp:

PM to Absynth: According to the staff code of conduct you broke the rules about remaining professional as well as not giving me any warning or information as to why you took action against me.


PM to Absynth: And when I used alternative forms of communication to let people know I was being abused by you, you muted me from that as well.


Developer PM from Absynth: I did warn you. I warned you when I muted you from dsay.


PM to Absynth: That is not a warning, that is a punishment, and your lack of differentiation between the two is cause for concern.

How you would punish the accused: I leave that up to admin staff, but this is highly inappropriate, and action must be taken to ensure it doesn't happen to anyone else who's opinion doesn't match that of the staff.

If you are not an admin or a moderator than you have no business taking disciplinary action against players, especially when you can mute the deadchat on your own side and not see any of it, I've been an admin on SS13 I'm familiar with what options are available to you, and muting me was backlash for having an opinion you didn't care for.

It can also be said that if you didnt like the gamemode. Instead of trashtalking it you could have left for the 30 minutes it takes for the round to end. Its not like our normal rounds which take hours. We see everything. And me seeing you badmouthing it was starting to irritate me. Had Abby not Muted you i was about to say something to you about it.

But at least you would have said something about it, the point is that I was not given a warning, I was not told to stop, I was told nothing. And I wasn't the only one with complaints, and I also wasn't JUST complaining, I participated in voting and talked a bit about the IC happenings in DC. By the time I was muted I was done with complaining, I had gotten my point across.

No, I'm keeping this open. It doesn't matter if the player is screaming at you. This WILL NOT become a staff team that becomes what we hate. We will remain calm, collected, and professional - no matter what.

RedPriest, I apologize for your experience with our staff. Though it would've been nice had you voiced your opinion differently, the reaction you received is unacceptable.

No, this guy should not be apologized at, I'm quite surprised he wasn't banned yet. Abby's already taking enough criticism for all the coding recently, yet people step over the bounds to insult her work. Tis' a free game, don't play if you dislike it.

Just want to say, Dsay always will have salt in it and not all of the salt is childish salt. Calling someone a cunt/bitch/etc is childish salt, but I would think being a staff member is about being able to handle a situation even when someone is being irate to that point. It doesn't excuse the way it was handled and I've seen many times where staff not just here will ignore that. At least apologize for not giving a warning.

I can understand where Abby is coming from; she spends practically her entire free time coding for this server, bringing new features and the like. I can understand why she was understandably pissed off when someone immediately calls her work shit and continues do bitch about it in any way they can. Abby was there to find bugs and make improvements, believe me she doesn't need you shitting on her work along with the entire playerbase. If I was Abby I'd have quit a long time ago simply because of the crap she receives for doing her job simply because you don't like xy feature. Yes I can also appreciate the fact that you were muted unfairly and you should have been warned beforehand. Simply put, you could have reacted better instead of being a prat about it, and yes Abby could have acted more professionally. Imo we should all just walk away from this and take a breather.

I feel like, this could have gone better all ways around with everyone involved. I think, tensions got too high and things were said that shouldn't have been said. Obviously, redpriest is saltier than League of Legends chat about the round, but the way it was handled was not following our procedure properly.


Currently, I'm waiting to hear-back from HeadChat, for our final decision on this whole situation. There was an extreme lack of professionalism from our staff so, so I am sorry about that. Typically, we do try to maintain professionalism, even when getting griefed or people are screaming/salty at us. That being said, to be completely honest, If it had been me, I'd have probably muted him, and bwoinked him to tell him to calm himself. If he continued to display more salt than Mortons, I'd have probably muted him from everything for the remainder of the Round so he could cool off. That being said, the situation was not handled correctly on either side.

He should have received a warning either before the Dsay mute, or right after.


BUT AT THE SAME TIME. He should not have Ahelped "Aww, did your feelings get hurt that you had to mute deadchat?", and then gone on to say:
