Nerf welding helmets

Post by Jackie Estegado » 03 Dec 2016, 11:46

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Many times, we have seen marines casualy go over to engineering and just put on welding helmets right after they land. Why? Because while they do reduce your vision, it basicaly makes you fully protected by lone hunters since they block two huggers, and often you see a whole goddam squad of them just charge up and you can barely do anything against them early game. So I suggest nerfing them to block one huggers instead.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): It will stop metagamers from getting an unfair advantage over everybody else.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Privates wouldn't be running around with helmets that are almost as good as leader helmets and being common as all hell.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
If you ever wonder when did I really start hating incompetent people read Crab Spider's signature... I was that CMO.

-1 You can't see jack and it's fairly uncommon unless someone brings out an autolathe for public use.

-1, they're our only protection(aside from reg. helmets) against the dreaded combat hugging, I do agree however that it shouldn't be as accessible, maybe limit the welding helmets in engineering.

Eeeeh, -1, the welding helmets actually limit your vision and SEVERELY lower your resistance to slashing. I personally just slash once and leap away when I see a welding helmet; They bleed out QUICKLY in such case.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

-1, You can barely see anything outside of a tiny radius and it needs to be flipped down in order to protect against huggers anyway.

Hugger combat has been acknowledged as cancer and is finally getting removed. Let us have the welding helmets until then.

-1, much less resistance to EVERYTHING, (which means if FF to head happens, consider yourself fucked, very quickly) can hold 2 huggers before it goes off with no way to tell for anyone else if its broken or not, limited vision, which is a pain in the ass, and very few in numbers, compared to marine helmets, you can honestly just slash their head repeatedly if you are that deseperate.

I don't usually quote someone to get a point across, but there are exceptions where it's already explained so well.

I can give faith in that there are xeno players that actually play to get hosts. But still, this is not going to be accepted, even so, if hugger combat gets removed (TM) what's the whole point?

From what i've heard, only carriers will be able to throw huggers and carry them around, also making huggers IA controlled, but nothing certain

As stated, aside the hugger protection, they're pretty horrible to wear. Denied.
