Revert or Improve New Vent Crawling

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
So the new vent crawling is great. It was something I had suggested for a long time ever since seeing it on /vg/. However I have found an issue with it. This issue is that it can not be used to bypass the usual Sulaco ladder camps. An example is earlier, Sulaco was invaded, marines were camping the ladders, but had not welded the vents. You can no longer transfer to upper deck from lower deck using vents.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Prevent the Sulaco Ladder Camp Marine Snowflake Autism Fort

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
It will allow previous functionality, unless marines of course have welded the vents to the upper levels.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
No idea honestly. Most servers play on one z-level for their stations, but Sulaco has two.

You couldn't transfer to upper deck from lower deck BEFORE using vents.

Yeah you could. I have vent crawled from lower engineering up into the bridge, or lower engineering into upper engineering many times when emitter traps are placed on the ladder.

Well that just makes no sense then, because there are two totally different atmos systems. There is an upper atmos, and a lower atmos, and they're not connected.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. Ventcrawling never allowed you to enter the upper deck, though that would be an interesting feature. I have tested this just now, to be sure I'm not hallucinating.

Weird. Might have been a bug? But I know I have gone from lower engineering to upper engineering, and killed the MT who thought he was safe behind his fort of girders and emitters and grills to keep xenos from going back down the ladder.

Edit: I know you cant do it now, and have no idea how you would do it due to the interconnected pipes, but I know I have done it in the old 'vents act as teleporters' vent system.

I think what might have happened is that you were admin teleported because of that exact reason. You might have thought it was vent crawling, because you would literally disappear and reappear somewhere else. Either way, this is something we're considering, now that it's not retarded teleporting.

Alright.

Just a note, I REALLY like the new vent system, if the 'MTs superheating the vents and killing all ventcrawlers" can be stopped. So reverting would have been an absolute last option if even considered..

But if you superheat the vents and kill all ventcrawlers, then wouldn't any room with an atmos deficiency become filled with that same superheated air? I mean, if you've done your job and set atmos.

No idea, but lately xenos, like in the previous round, were dieing in seconds from full health upon entering the vents.

Honestly, I like the new system of vent crawling, even if I haven't tried it myself.

Back then, having an alien rapidly teleport around and kill everyone was a pain to deal with. Now the alien has to travel from point to point instead of just suddenly poofing in.

On the other hand, now aliens are able to plan ambushes better, so if you are alone in a room.. It'll know for sure now.

I think that now creative MT's can counter vent crawling is nice, and not to mention it takes some work to superheat the vents + running risk of blowing up atmos.

Xenos can also of course can actually 'hide' in the vents, and hearing them move around is creepy as hell.

I think the new system is good for both sides, as they both and counter the new system and use it as a advantage.
