No reason to keep it enabled, saves processing cycles, prevents nasty bugs from occurring that cause pressure to rise into e+09 levels of insanity and simply allows you to spend your cycles on other more important things.
Doing this should be as easy as modifying the turfs to be unsimulated, or simply modifying Controller.dm to ignore updates for the specific zlevel whenever one of the planetside maps is compiled.

Re: Disable Atmospherics on the planetside map(s)
I think we need atmosphere on a planet to breath though . . .
I could be sprouting absolute BS right now because I have NO clue how the dev side of SS13 works.
Also you DID NOT follow the format, which is grounds for an immediate denial.

Simulated gives us all of the !FUN!, unsimulated lets you stare through a hull breach while breathing.

Re: Disable Atmospherics on the planetside map(s)
Yes, what Jroinc said. Since the planet is never supposed to be breached anyways, it would not make much a difference in normal gameplay but WOULD help when a big problem would pop up. +1 on this (as long as it stays on the Sulaco pls)

There is no need for the planet to simulate atmospherics, removing it would allow for more ~~fun~~ things to be done.Snypehunter007 wrote:I think we need atmosphere on a planet to breath though . . .

We've been looking into doing this. Probably won't happen right away, but eventually, yeah. Marking as resolved, since this is more of an optimization than anything to do with gameplay itself.
