Medal ceremonies, senior member funerals? Also MP suggestions

Greetings!

Well, my suggestion was that we make more use of the commanders medal box. More of a role-play thing really; for arguments sake, a marine is recognized out in the field for being brave, saving other marines, or killing higher caste aliens like a praetorian. The marine in question is then recommended for a medal by the squad leader to the Commander, the marine is then recalled whenever possible, and presented with a medal by the commander, with the LO's as witness. I don't know just seemed like a neat thing to do really...

As for the whole funeral thing, well; I was thinking, if an LO, or the commander or maybe even a marine with a medal dies, they get some sort of funeral send off with some marines of the same squad and a senior officer maybe. A casket is ejected into space with some marines firing shots from rifles, like a real serviceman funeral.

As for MP suggestions. I was thinking that the MP gets special belts instead of the marine belts, that can hold flashes and flash-bangs? Perhaps if the riot shield is equipped in hand, you can't move past the MP, so they literally block you with the riot shield, to make them a bit more... Menacing I suppose?

Just suggestions really, mostly role-play things that I think would be quite neat. Let me know what ya'll think!

I don't usually play CM but those sound pretty cool. I tried playing on the server once and joined late and was really confused. Walked out into the hallway and some one came by and shot me. I guess I joined when everything went bad, REALLY bad. I usually play on the New Eden Station anyway.

I like all of these, save for the funeral thing.

Funerals are lengthy, and sometimes I allow post-round medal commendations or handouts by the Commander, though those 5 minutes are more spent moonrunning back to the dorms, getting into a sleeper, and waiting for the round to end. OR, for a retarded dance party in Briefing.

Many people don't want to do roleplay on a server where the main purpose is "SHOOT THAT THING, OR I'LL SHOOT YOU INSTEAD!" kind of thing. People come for action, thrill and abductions by Aliens, not for funerals, medals or any of those things.

If this was New Eden Station, it'd be a different idea, but.. Still. +1

I like the medal idea, to be honest. Did a round with a decent population, I think we had three squads with 5+ people in them. Sent them down with specific objectives, had complete radio silence for a looong time. Guess who comes back? Xur Fucking Dergens and his band of bannanas. The only people to come back.

Slapped him in the face with a Distiguished Conduct medal before unknowingly sending him down to his doom. I'd like to see more Commander's go a little heavier on the RP side of things. Gives some people a reason to fight, might increase team cohesion.

i like the funeral idea it means there is more rp and maybe could make you generally sad but the only flaw i see in it is that couldn't you just clone the player who had the medal unless they bursted... ?
