Glass-shields

Post by Sarah_U. » 14 Jan 2017, 13:57

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Implement directional glass-shield as a feature and remove its bug tag.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Marines could use it to make certain defences.
Glass still take 2 hits to break for most castes and it's really hard to move a glass-shield forward with a sentry.
This would give more protection to sentries, letting marines have a chance to leave their sentries with fewer number of soldiers to spread out.
This would be exceptionally useful for maps with big coverage.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Simply remove its bug status and implement it.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Remove status, add feature.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Yea, basically implement it instead of siding it as a bug to be removed.

So you want a glass wall that takes 2 hits to break, as a defensive "construction" the engineers can build.

Which is just a re-purposed r-wall...

Edit: Also, you can't shoot through glass without breaking it.

I made a better suggestion for replacing this bug abuse with a new buildable object, feel free to +1 that if you feel like it:

Garth Pawolski, or is it Powalski?

Back in action.

You can shoot through it if you're standing on the tile it is placed on. Directional glass panes have that as a bug and personally if it's listed for removal it'd be a shame imo. Would take some of the time of the dev and remove a possible feature since those can be placed in all 4 directions around a sentry (Which will later prove to be bad if you gotta move said sentry).

Stuff like that, but yes you can shoot through glass/r-glass if it's directional, when standing ontop of the tile it is placed on.

I meant normally, you should be able to shoot through glass normally. It should break.

Ah alright, I know where you're coming from. Although I'm purely suggesting this for gameplay, realism is another matter in this case. (I can still confirm it's a bug though, so if this is denied then please do anything that's needed)

Definitely a bug and not something that should be a feature. Denied.
