Game Mode Picking Mechanic Proposals
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
I am aware the fact that we shouldn't have many tiny suggestions, however I believe we should pick out the best of three proposals we have in mind and discuss one. If you tell us that we don't need a deciding factor. You will see the players asking to change game modes and yet none are doing it, even myself asking to change game modes from Whiskey.We need to have a decision or some what of deciding factor for the game modes. I propose three ways to decide a game factor that interests the majority of the players, a game mode that can get estimated 60-70% of the majority to agree on and accepting it. To suck it up, buttercup. This is the point of this suggestion.
Proposal #1: Hour or Day Schedule for each game modes. How this works, you ask? It's quite elementary, my dear Watson. The schedule will chosen by the people developers. For example, for Monday to Tuesday, we play LV-642. For Wednesday to Thursday, we play Ice Colony. For Friday, we play Whiskey Outpost. The weekend is a random choice or whatever the schedule they have in mind.
Proposal #2: A vote after each round to allow the game to compile, to load up, or whatever is needed to get done before the server is booted up. As usual, the majority wins the game mode.
Proposal #3: A consecutive pattern of each game modes for instance. We start with LV-642, then we move onto Ice Colony, then we move on to Whiskey Colony. The pattern starts over, we move back to LV-642, then Ice Colony, and so on.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Everyone being able to enjoy the round with a little taste of democracy.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): The flexibility of the game mode switching.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): [N/A: NOT HIS SPECIALTY]

Rename your suggestion to something else; it's not a gamemode suggestion, but a gamemode picking mechanic-

CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

I wasn't told of this mechanics. I shall re-title the suggestion. EDIT: Thank you, I didn't think people would read the paragraph after reading the title before thinking what to type.

-1 for suggestion #1. I can't imagine playing WO all day Friday.
Neutral on #2. I can see a lot of WO and Ice. Do note: Neutral only because my favorite map is LV.

When you do the math.
33/100 = 33% | 100 - 33 = 77 / 2 = 38.50%
38.50% for two other game modes divided equally. Thereforth, 33/100 for Whiskey Outpost | 38.5/100 for Ice Colony | 38.5 for LV-642
Realistically, it varies. But, I see what you actually mean there. WO round ends quick and becomes repetitive. There could be changes to this such as adding WO to the end of a newly made pattern
I came right off my mind with to counter this good point, though I did not think about it mathematically.
LV-642 -> Ice Colony -> LV-642 -> Ice Colony -> WO -> REPEAT or LV-642 -> Ice Colony -> LV-642 -> WO -> Ice Colony -> LV642 -> Ice Colony -> WO

Your survivability is completely related to RNJesus looking upon you with favor, not how robust you are, because if your spawn point is in a obscure place on the map with nothing around you then just suicide right away. If you spawn near a place with tools and/or a decent melee weapon / pistol, congrats. You now have a chance at surviving.
Then we get to survival crates, that completely skew the balance of the gamemode even more as they are based on a OOC vote. This would have been fine in THEORY, but in practice, everyone votes for popular static namers who then go on to murdering random namers / newbies.
Its just a ego boost gamemode for the regulars at that point, not something that is actually fun.
Instead of everyone spawning with NOTHING but a flare, people should spawn with a random loadout; they might get:
- A toolbelt, but no gun.
- Medical supplies, but nothing else.
- A gun, but only one mag for the gun and nothing else.
- A decent melee weapon, but nothing else.
This would promote people either stealing from each other, or teaming up, as things would be fair even if you spawned out in the jungle with nothing near you because you might have just spawned with tools you could use to make a barricade somewhere with goods.
Supply crates also have to be COMPLETELY random aka cycle through all the still alive players every 10 player count (60 players? Crate. 50 players? Crate, etc.) in order to ensure we get someone other than a regular with a sniper rifle killing everyone from a distance.
