Shotguns/uGL's failing to fire on click

Post by PinkledWrenis » 22 Jan 2017, 22:44

Bug Description:

Sometimes shotguns loaded with buckshot will fail to fire on help or harm intent. Similarly with unloaded m41 uGL. This has happened to me twice with each. Safeties were off on all occasions. I suspect it has something to do with rapid clicking, cannot confirm though. Most of the time you will fire on the first click, other times you will fire on the second, third, or even fourth click. This seems to be rare and at first I thought the error was on my part until I ran into the problem more times and captured it occurring. While recording a round it happened and I went back and confirmed there was no user error on my part, the shotgun specifically in this case.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Have a shotgun loaded with buckshot or unloaded m41 with uGL enabled.
2. Click rapidly on xenomorph target or target tile on help or harm intent.
3. Observe.

I have the same thing happen with buckshot very often, and never with the pulse rifle be it on single fire or burst. I doubt it's lag related because it happens even when I have a very nice and playable 0.18. It doesn't seem to be related to trying to fire on a non-visible tile or meleeing alien weeds by mistake. I didn't have the same problem with UGL but I don't recall using UGL on an unloaded gun recently.

So I don't know, it might just be one of those things.

Guns have cooldown times; they won't fire unless they had enough time to cool down from the last shot, with shotguns taking longer than a rifle. Not a bug.

Bringing this back, pending further investigation.

Thank you!

I am well aware of the cooldown associated with the shotgun, but this happens while spam clicking (on the first shot, gun loaded, with the safety off). It could obviously simply be a latency thing but as stated I've never had this happen on the first shot with any other gun.

I've never ran into this while testing guns before, and recent tests have failed to recreate the probelm. The likely scenario is that you clicked somewhere in the game world and then tried to fire off the shotgun in the span of a second, or longer depending on server lag, leading to the gun to not fire at all. That is actually expected behavior to prevent click spam. Also unlikely, but can happen in the heat of the moment, like when clicking on dark tiles, or whatever else. I'm marking this as resolved. If there's some way to recreate this, pm me.
