Marine psychiatrist, or Chapel.
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): In the RP part of the game. Marines will show stress and fear of the situation. A common thing that would make sense on a military vessel would be a medical officer with the order to watch over marines going through signs of combat fatigue, or PTSD.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):It would add an RP aspect to the game for those wanting to play a marine in fear, instead of tossing the stressed marine in the brig for insubordination, or back on the shuttle/pod as it leaves.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): It may get marines in shape, after getting the horrors of combat off their chest, and hand them that extra kick to return to the fight, and redeem themselves of the brig.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): With the removal of cloning, I think with that extra space, we could put a small shrink office, and give a psychiatrist job. It should be a heavy RP role, maybe a whitlist if need be,

I like the idea, but I really don't see much in the way of heavy RP from marines. Most people just want to get back to shooting or some such... +1, but I don't know how this will work.

Re: Marine psychiatrist, or Chapel.
I mean I'd like to see a psychiatrist office again on the Sulaco like in PA, however I'm not sure that currently it'd be used all that much, besides with Survivors, and I cant help but think that the psychiatrist may end up bored due to no marines visiting them.
With that said I'd still love to see this added. +1

Neutral. Like Nightcaper said, this role will only appeal to a small niche of players who are willing to spend the time roleplaying out psychological trauma. There is no harm in adding it, but this role would be kinda conflicting with a doctor's role. If a doctor wants to RP as a psychiatrist, he can do so. It is just like how there is no official janitor role because MTs can just take up the role of janitor if they so choose.

I do understand the view you get. It was just a small idea I came up with after seeing marines RP out fear of the enemy, getting thrown straight in the brig for insubordination, all because of fear and common sense..

I'm giving this my +1, but I'd see ways to implement it with science / CL / MPs as well.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

I know something about RP But I do not take it seriously for obvious reasons. But this suggestion makes sense so . .

+1 I think this would give opportunity for more RP on the Sulaco, I'm not sure about the whitelist though. I would like to see a Shrink be able to perscribe drugs(Not real ones) to marines for their depression, and PTSD.

Re: Marine psychiatrist, or Chapel.
This si something that would require more discussion.
I could see a psychiatrist being able to talk with the survivors or traumatized marines, but I also see it being a way for marines to faff about and avoid deployment or give them a reason the play an "insane" marine.
As far as the chapel, most military ships do not have one. Instead, if the ship happens to have a chaplain they hold services in a briefing room or in the cafeteria. Space is at a premium on a starship like the Sulaco (and upcoming Almayer) and I don't think we have any plans to include religion on the ship.

Re: Marine psychiatrist, or Chapel.
Well I think there should be some rules to the psychiatrist. For survivors, yeah it cold help them a lot. But for the marines, It should, for the rule. be after FIRST contact.apophis775 wrote:This si something that would require more discussion.

I'm coming up with this idea for those who enjoy the RP on the server, and a small bit of what I said before.
