[Marine] Bullets

Post by Swagile » 26 Jan 2017, 12:00

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): If you get shot up as a marine, your armor / helmet should reflect that by having holes in it. This shouldn't really affect gameplay unless devs want to; its more of a "holy shit you got FF'd to fuck!" Armor can also be given slash marks to it if you get attacked by xenos.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Gives a more atmospheric mood to the game when you call your troops back to the FOB after a failed raid on the hive and you see all of them limping back with cracked helmets, bullets and claw marks all over their armor, and blood pouring out of them.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Joe McJoeson gets shot up by his fellow marine and/or scratched to shit. He tells McDumbson, a fellow marine, about how he got shot up and while he's talking, McDumbson is wondering how the heck that is the case when he has no scratches or bullet holes on his armor or helmet. Hence why I think adding this would be neat.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Small coding, big spriting.

eh....this'd be amazing from a gameplay point of view, from a lore perspective however, it'd make no sense(not that what happens now does anyway). The M41A bullets are meant to target armor, they burrow into the armor and expload, killing the person who just got shot.If you got shot on a pure lore server you'd be dedded instantly(unless you didn't have armor on, in which the bullet would probably head through the body without detonating).I guess i'll go with neutral for that

Pretty sure this makes holes in the armor regardless?

Im not too familiar with bullets or firearms, just their gameplay factor.

I'll go on neutral for this; This would be a minor change with very few impact and that'd generally cause some rework on armor behavior that could grow much too complicated rather quickly.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

We can already put burritos in our helmets, I don't see how this is any more complicated. Unless marines get more than just the usual armor sets and having to sprite bullet holes / scratches on ALL those armor sets would get tedious.

Wouldn't look good, and there's no way to make it look good. Almost definitely won't happen.
