Iron bears ert complete rework
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):This (somewhat) lengthy post is my ideas for a complete rework of the iron bears ert. It includes changes to objectives, equipment, and some mechanics. More might be added in the future if i have more ideas.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): to hopefully improve both roleplay and game mechanics of being and opposing iron bears.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):Firstly, I propose that the iron bears get a random objective, from a set list that they have to follow, instead of always having to take over the sulaco, which leads to meta behaviour on both sides and usually ruins the experience. These objectives would range from hostile, to neutral, to even the rare friendly objective. Examples below:
Enter and hold the engineering sector, study the SM for our soviet scientists, then sabotage the supermatter engine
You have defected! Head to the commander and explain you have defected from the iron bears with your men and are willing to aid the USMC. don't forget to collect the reward that was promised you!
You are a double agent! pretend you have defected, while secretly undermine the marines. Stab them in the back and takeover the ship as soon as a situation presents itself!
Take over the requisitions area, and use the cargo points to aid the motherland
steal as much USMC technology as possible, and load it in your arrival shuttle
There could be many more of these. The idea is to make it less possible or favourable for marines and mps to follow the bears everywhere as soon as they land and harass them, as firstly they won't know what their objective is, and secondly they may actually be there to help the marines.
The second change would be to up the number of bears to 7, and introduce some new classes of bears, change the equipment load-out, and perhaps add some new items. For example:
Iron bears infiltrator
A master at infiltration, this bear spawns with no armour or helmet, and a random civilian jumpsuit. In his webbing vest he has: 1x anesthetic injector, 1x quickclot (a 5 u version, for either suicide or nefarious purposes, 1x silenced soviet pistol, 1x pistol mag and 1x emp grenade. uncommon spawn. He also has a toolbelt, insulated gloves, and can understand and speak both russian and english. Has a civilian id and iron bear radio disguised as a normal civilian headset.
Iron bears 'volunteer'
The russian version of plausible deniability, this bear wears a civilian jumpsuit, a bulletproof vest, a usmc helmet, and carries 2 random black market guns with a few clips for each. Speaks and understands russian only. Still has an iron bear id and headset.
Iron bears gunner
Carries the RPK-108, the russian version of the smartgun, able to fire through those wearing iron bear ids. Fire quicker than the marine smartgun, but is much less accurate. Also carries a pistol, and has stronger armour than the average bear. Basically the bears version of the pmc gunner.
Iron bears veteran
These hardened shock troops are ideal for assault. They carry a mar 40, shotgun (double-barreled?) or flamer, a pistol, and grenades. Same armour, id and other equipment as other bears.
Iron bears grenadier
Spawns with the GM-94 grenade launcher, and carries many grenades with him, other equipment the same as other bears.
Iron bears medic
Carries a custom life saver belt with: Various pill bottles, painkillers, a few hyperzine injectors, a advanced first aid kit, a defib and a few calcitofix injectors, which knit together broken bones but cause toxin damage and paralysing pain while doing so.
Iron bears sniper
Carries a dragunov, and a pistol, which several clips for each. (maybe sniper cowl and the like in bears colours?)
Iron bears sargent
Ok, this guy already exists, but i suggest giving him a mar-30/40 with a rds or other attachments, some sort of equivalent to the commander's sword (sabre?) as well as a ppsh submachine gun and his mateba. He would keep his fancy hat, but would get slightly better armour (like a sl has)
In the iron bears shuttle there would be several first aid kits, ammo clips, grenades, and a couple of extra weapons. Perhaps it could even have a door that only iron bears can open/close (but can be hacked or blow up by c4)
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):The majority of the equipment already exists and would just need shuffling around. The new chemical and russian version of the smartgun would need to be coded in, however.

I'm actually in favor of an rng set of objectives, since it may cut down on the meta of 'harass the bears', since you don't know if they're defectors or not.

I am in favor of this as well but I don't know how well it's going to fly with the devs.

Eh, most likely the bears would be shot down anyway, due to the already attached stigma of bears = bad. Much like how xenos 90% of the time get shot at even without them doing anything hostile to the marines.

+1
Like what somebody said farther up the thread I'd also love to see some sort of randomized set of objectives that the Iron Bears get as it would help get rid of the negative stigma they get right now. One critique I have of your proposal is the civilian disguised Iron Bear because it just seems strange to me as the ERT is a military squad so having spies amongst them seems out of place.

+1.
It would reduce the meta in both sides and drastically reduce the ''OH SHIT,COMMIES! KILL 'EM ALL!'' in the marines side.
Seriously,a IB smartgunner would be epic to be added,as well as the other variations of our glorious comrades.

I play Sydney 'Lilly' Wood, the totally not depressed doctor, And the marine Dylan Bell, that probably joined the USCM by accident.

+1, currently the MPs all follow the IBs around like little puppy dogs until they open fire. And just 'taking' the USS Sulaco gets kinda old as IB cause you just end up getting rushed by xenos and marines. Give them a special EVAC pod that can launch back would be great.

+1 on the objectives. Just the objectives could be added in now and that would be great if the rest is too much work at the moment for the devs. I'm not sure on how necessary the equipment/roster change is anyway.

Denied. IBs may change in other ways.
