Remove Head Reattachment Surgery

Post by Snypehunter007 » 30 Jan 2017, 19:19

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

Per the title.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

Slim down suggestions, bugs, etc. Slim down the guides and wiki while also updating them to make them current.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

Head Reattachment Surgery is now useless with the removal of cloning and it can be cut out of the game due to the little amount of use it has.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

Coding.

+1, waste of space on wiki and mechanic is obsolete with cloning being removed.

Keep it! It makes great RP for burial! -1
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Then we'd need to make health scanners know when a body was killed and then we'd have to make a chem that revives heads... kind of like Futurama

if it must be done, marines should be rewarded for getting a marine back to medbay in under 4 minutes (3 if the doc doesn't know all the steps)
but alas, that is a topic for another thread.I'm sticking with -1

-1, do not remove a mechanic for the simple purpose of lowering the game flavour, efficiency and mechanics. If you are purposingly removing mechanics (In this instance, most likely commenting it untill later) then you're taking away tools that could be used for certain scenarios and lower the diversity of the gameplay involved (Which is horrible, no one likes playing a game with no replay value)

E.G. Marines are holding cafeteria, doctor is good and grab a dead marine that was decap, quickly attach head, fix damage, defib.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Honestly, it seems like a waste of time for the dev's to remove it. If no one uses it now, why bother? Just remove it from the wiki.

I don't see why we need to remove it from the wiki or in-game.. might as well just keep it in and if it really pains you ignore it.

It takes 5 seconds to completely die from decapitation, unless you have to inject the head with dexalin plus and peri, it wouldn't make much sense for a decapitated man to be returned to the living world and medics are allowed to reattach heads.

Decap meta is going to replace Hugger Combat as soon as it gets removed, mark my words.

If you get decapitated, not only is your spine severed, but so is your larynx, carotid arteries, and the muscles in your neck. That isn't even the end of it. Your brain would also be dead within SECONDS due to the lack of blood flow.

I don't think that just reattaching your head and using a defibrillator on you is going to fix you.

Yeah and gameplay wise this cucks marines even harder as the new xeno meta will be rav offences (due to flamethrowers) that take off arms to remove firing, then decap head to remove forever.

I still hold my possition. Feature shouldn't be remove for the sake of simplifying something that doesn't need simplification. If surgery in the future is overhauled then sure, but right now it serves no purpose other than removing a potential feature in the system. Perhaps even, cloning could be added as a high-end science suggestion (Like I did) and then re-attaching would be useful. Don't scrap a possibility simply for the sake of removing 2 lines of text.

If it don't hold purpose, perhaps later it may! That's my argument, and why I don't find this idea any good for the global state of the game. Plus it increase workload.

Approved. This mechanic has no reason to exist. It's not on the top of the list of things to do, but it will be done.
