Floodlights shock aliens when sliced.
Summary:
When an alien slices a light, it gets shocked.
Benefits:
Puts more risk on aliens who move to knock out floodlights. Instead of rushing in to cut out the lights, they now have to make sure the area is safe to avoid getting shot.
Having a single alien rush in to knock out a hard to repair floodlight feels pretty bad to the marines. This change wouldnt effect aliens too badly in the long run, scince they still will be able to knock out the light. They will just have to be more cautious about it.
Lorewise, this floodlight is indeed connected to the main power grid, which makes them more like APC's instead of lightbulbs.
Details:
If the suggestion still needs balance, just have it be a 2/3 chance of being shocked instead of 100%. so a bold alien can still rush in to knock out a light, but it will be taking a decent chance that it will be shocked and stunned.
Implementation:
Reuse the shocking system from slicing APC's.

hmmm, i dig that, light rushing is a bit crappy. +1
Janina 'Bullseye' Jardine- Never misses, but what she DOES hit is another thing
This place would be so much better if marines were replaced with cyborgs, atleast those would follow orders. assuming there was a rule forcing them to do so...

Dear god do you enjoy making my life harder KingKire.
In all honesty, it's not that I'm against being shocked and stunned, it's the fact I'll take damage in process with no way of knowing how long it'll last.

You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

I dont eat a jar of blue pills in the morning to cuddle, if thats what your meaning^^ If nerfs to aliens and marines last for more than 3 hours, call up your local dev team and suggest more nerfs.Crab_Spider wrote:Dear god do you enjoy making my life harder.

Perhaps it shouldn't damage xenos but have the same stun as a shocked grille or something similar. Neutral leaning towards +1 for the main suggestion without modifications.

I honestly don't get why xenos can slash wires from a floodlight without getting hurt, but slashing up an APC will?
These floodlights are fairly powerful, right? They aren't dinky light bulbs, but then again, maybe I just don't know my electronics.
Regardless, it would be nice to have something to slow down the rush to break every single floodlight the second they turn on, even if only for a few seconds longer.

Re: Floodlights shock aliens when sliced.
Yeah right now flood lights are just a minor inconvenience for xenos that stalls them for maybe 15 minutes if they're good, 30 minutes if they are bad.
It should take longer than just one slice to take it down and be dangerous, especially if marines are guarding them.

Re: Floodlights shock aliens when sliced.
Well, ill leave it up to the devs if they do put it into place, but personally, im pretty sure the Floodlights are not exactly "well-grounded" items and are just wired into the main electrical circuit that travels up and down the colony.

Re: Floodlights shock aliens when sliced.
I rather prefer the other suggestion of making floodlights worth repairing than making them punishing to slash. So I have to lean towards -1

this is a better ideaEenkogneeto wrote:I rather prefer the other suggestion of making floodlights worth repairing than making them punishing to slash. So I have to lean towards -1
if they work as this thread suggests, everytime marines hear the light slash noise they'll run out to confirm if theres a xeno out there and the way it works with how long electricity stuns and even a safe light can just... basically i imagine lights being on forever
I play Xeno 99% of the time. All castes.

Re: Floodlights shock aliens when sliced.
Why would they shock the alien? Breaking a light doesn't electrocute you, nor would it electrocute a xenomorph. Considering how many floodlights there are, this would also be really annoying. Denied.
