Flamethrower glitch (read more)

Bug Description: so, I was observing, and I watched a boiler get lit on fire by a flamethrower. The sprite overlay was there and everything. It ran away, did not lay down or resist (which knocks out the "sprite glitch" explanation) and proceeded to take no damage from being on fire. It was on weeds the whole time, so I'm not sure if the weeds healed faster than the fire did damage or if it wasn't doing any damage
And to clarify, I'm talking about the "on fire" Damage over time effect, not being in actual fire.


Steps to reproduce:
1. Burn an alien (boiler) with a flamethrower, light it on fire
2. watch as it runs away and never resists or gets rid of the effect
3. Watch as it either is healed faster then it is taking damage or isn't taking damage at all
4. Profit (salt)

again, though, as I said

The boiler did not lay down, resist or do anything that would have allowed it to be the sprite glitch

I was watching the entire time, it was lit on fire and then proceeded to not resist or lay down or put the fire out the entire round

Check out the other thread. To remove the burning sprite, you just need to rest and rest again. It's a sprite glitch where the Xeno isn't really on fire, but the sprite lingers, which explains why the boiler didn't die cause it wasn't really on fire.

I dunno if we are talking about the same thing

I was observing the entire time, right? Well, the boiler got flammed by a flamethrower and was lit on fire. I followed it until it got shot to death, and not once did it lay down, resist, or do ANYTHING to get rid of the EFFECT. I realize there is a sprite glitch, but this isn't that. It never rested, it never layed down, it never went into crit until it died, so it should have been taking the damage. But it wasn't

Yup. If you play Xeno then you'll know we're talking about the same thing. This sprite glitch has happened to me many many times before, and resisting doesn't do anything because you're not on fire. If you're really on fire, pressing resist will let you stop drop and roll. You'll understand once you have it happen to you when you play as Xeno. It's not specific to flamers. Getting hit by incendiary rounds sometimes randomly adds a glitched "on fire" sprite too but you can't resist to put it out.

It wasn't a sniper round, it was burned with an actual flamethrower that applied the sprite.

ZDashe, I think you're talking about the sprite glitch after the aliens resists and he's talking about the boiler not dying to fire after being clearly set on fire and not resisting.
For what it's worth, I have seen a boiler walk through fire onto weeds and he shook it off like it was nothing.

The sprite glitch can happen even without resisting. It's just a false indication that a Xeno is on fire when a fire source attempts to light a Xeno on fire. It's like passing the "fire sprite" check but failing the "on fire" check, which is why it confuses many people.
