eorg revamp

Post by Nappywagster » 02 Apr 2017, 13:47

Summary:currently the eorg rule is in place to prevent end of round grief. it bans all members that Fight after the round ends and generate combat logs. however this rule is broken in the regards of immersion and self preservation. the ban spans to both griefers and those that are attacked. the negative of this is when immersed into a combat role your instinct is to return fire if attacked. a grief er in turn could exploit this rule by attacking a group after round end and instill return fire. what should be a ban of the attacker would in turn be a ban of all members involved. i believe a revamp or well a re-look at the rule should be made in regards of cases of return fire.

Benefits: a revamp would lower the capability of griefers to further hurt the players as a whole by limiting rule exploitation.

Details:there should be a process to determine the cause of the eorg rather than just a blanket ban on all members involved.

-1, rulebreakers should be punished, if you are a victim of erog, ahelp it and wait for the next round to start in less than 2 minutes.

-1, there's no reason to return fire anyways since it's the end of the round. Let the aggressor get the 3 hour ban and move on with the next round. If anything this weeds out those who read the rules and those who didn't.

Exactly this reason is why i end up forfeiting my aheal since out of reflex i shoot back at something that just turned and shot three rounds into me.

That one old man that USED to run around as Engineer building retarded table forts and developing relationships on a questionable level with sentry turrets. Now I run around as someone equally stupid, doing equally stupid shit as a Medic. Oh and Pookie, that's also me.

http://prntscr.com/grdigl I totally succeeded in that btw, it was a badass kick-flip.

-1, seeing as people already complain that it takes us "forever" to get finish with the current system (which is banning indiscriminately towards anyone creating combat logs against friendlies) since we have to verify we got everyone who created logs which can be annoying with ooc being enabled as well during that period. if we chose to add in if you shoot in retaliation it is ok, it would make this process a further crawl since we have check who started first, see if there was any prior goading into it, get eye witness testimony, etc. That being in a simple 1v1 scenario, you would also have cases where other marines will freaking lynch the original shooter, which can make that a clusterfuck, real quick.

from experience I have as a staff member, the longer it takes for staff to finish dealing with EoRG the more likely EoRG will occur since I've seen many times when we were finalized with dealing with all the prior cases of EoRG and another case pops up because they were bored of waiting for the server to restart.

I get it, it sucks being banned for 3 hours for something you think is minor but this is clearly stated in the rules and I was the one who banned you, nothing personal

Until a mechanical fix is in place, the rule is unlikely to go away. Denied.
