Mines works on aliens, crawling in vents.

Post by misterjoper » 17 Apr 2017, 14:43

Bug Description:
Mines are triggered even when alien is in the vents. After the explosion the pipes are destroyed and alien is visible outside, stunned.

Steps to reproduce:
1.Ask marine to place a mine on a ventalation pipe
2.Get into ventelattion and travel through the title with that pipe, where the mine was placced
3.Boom
Now I am truly Free from this Endless loop of killing eachother.
I had my fun for a half of year. I am satisfied.
Jobbaned from alien since 16.11.2017. My last tallhost Pet:"Charlotte 'Fortune' View".

I can confirm that this is probably a bug. Shown here:

A mine was laid with a girder on top of it, presumably on top of where the pipe that runs through this area is. A spitter was going through the pipe, when it suddenly appeared on the surface and exploded upon passing under the mine.

Hmm surprised this hasn't been reported before because I remember vent crawling xenos being able to deting prox grenades, which generally just blow up the pipe they are crawling in...

Is it plausible that shaking the pipe below the mine could move dirt and debris around enough to trigger it? I imagine Xeno's would go pretty violently through those pipes.
Or maybe not, if that's dumb.

It's motion-based. Wouldn't turn on if the target was hidden or REALLY TOO SMALL (Larvas are somewhat big + Gameplay)
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

The problem there is that these a claymores that have an infared emitter, if they were really like this, then irrgation systems would absolutely need to be shut off, and the xenos aren't digging or burrowing into the ground, only Hivelords have that ability, and from that anomaly in the Hierarchy, it's safer to assume that the lower castes maintained the ability to squeeze through tight openings. From a gameplay standpoint, that's an entirely different z-level, so the mines shouldn't be detonating.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Can't reproduce. Tried on big red map, inside the General Offices, inside the vent, with a claymore placed both right on top of the pipe and another next to it facing the pipe. No triggering. And from my remote knowledge of ventcrawling code, I don't see how that could be happening.

It's possible there was a hole in the pipe already, so when they came out they only THOUGHT it triggered like that. I can't imagine how, though. That spitter definitely appeared out of nowhere.
