Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Usually the term infected in colonial marines means some one has an alien in them but I've been thinking about a new type of enemy for the marines. In the movie Prometheus a black goo was drank by one of the characters and in a short amount of time he turned in to a zombie, or something similar, that's what I would like to implement in to the game.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): if a marine dies and is later approached by the goo he or she has an opportunity to come back to life as their character with a thirst for human blood. Of some one turns in the middle of the battlefield other marines can notice by seeing them collapse and shake and a marine can quickly change and turn on his team mates giving xenos an advantage considering they don't have to wait till some one gets chest bursted but the actual infected won't be as strong enough to take out 1000000000 marines like a predator would.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): While you are alive you will be able to get infected by a creature that will be part of the xenos and will be much like the boiler. The xeno will launch a cloud of black gas or will be able to splatter large areas with black goo and if you remain next to any of these for about 5 or 10 seconds you will be infected. After a few minutes (or what ever you choose it to be maybe like 15 minutes or less) you will turn in to a vile monster who has no common sense and one thought on his mind, to kill, your only salvation will be to go to the researcher and try to develop a cure. Also after being infected you can use your hands which are now claws or melee weapons you find but no actual fire arms and your health will be the same as a normal marine. Once you turn it'll be like joining the xeno team but a notification will pop up asking if you would like to turn of you choose no then you will turn in to a pile of human goop and if you choose yeah, obviously, you will be name infected and will be able to hear the xenos. The cool thing will be that you have a slight boost in speed and are able to do some damage by throwing items but you will be as vulnerable as a normal marine.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): I think you can add a new xeno but you can also add infected water that can travel through the river. Either way a new threat will face the marines making their lives more terrifying and giving the marines an opportunity to live again as a nightmare. And one more thing I have a suggestion for a new enemy for the marines it doesn't mean it has to be made exactly like I said and will obviously be modified and improved by the developers of they so choose to make this and it could also be an ultimate game mode.

It seems a little too op, and a few minutes? What if the rasp isn't down and won't be for 10 more minutes? I'm going with a -1

... Snype can you close this post?
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

I'm not the one implementing this obviously so who ever does can reduce or increase the time till they feel like it's reasonable I'm just suggesting 2 new types of enemiesNyeshivuu wrote:It seems a little too op, and a few minutes? Nothing wrong with him suggesting things! However this seems like more than the dev team can accomodate at the moment.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

Re: The Infected
Now, on one hand, I find this is way too strong and out of place for the Xenos. On the other hand, I find it completely plausible that these "Infected" could end up being another side for the Marines to fight against, INSTEAD of the Xenos! I'd be all for "Zombies" that dragged Marines back and shoved them into pools of goo to infect them, and different types of zombies emerging. It was hinted in Prometheus that the zombie was slowly turning into a type of xeno.
So for the suggestion itself, I'd go for a -1. It's way too out of place, and way too strong, to be given to the Xenos, especially because it breaks the lore into itsy bitsy pieces in the process. But an enemy side that had unique mechanics and weren't the Xenos? I'd be all for it.

Re: The Infected
I'm triggered at your general lack of knowledge guys.
The black goo is not a Xenomorph product, it was created by Engineers as a bio-weapon that alter and defile the DNA of living organisms, ultimately leading to cell degeneration and death. The effect on the human affected was mostly a reversal to a more primal state and an increase in violence while also being affected with massive genetic damage and boost; Overall, it is NOT a xenomorph bi-product, but something the engineers did to mutate organisms into being better killing machines for their bio-weapon division.
Now, for the suggestion: I'd like the implementation of another threat like zombies or anything really, but the way it was brought strictly leads me to a -1. Furthermore, if you were to implement the black goo in itself, I'd rather have it cause genetic damage and trigger event cues like brain damage, small regen, etc. Ultimately leading to someone getting a pop-up saying "Hey, your new goal is to kill and hunt anything."
But even then! Can you actually trust users with that kind of thing? I'd clearly see someone rushing xenos only, etc.
If anything, I see the suggestion as more of a trouble-making rather than an actual good way to improve the experience and gameplay. Just suggest implementing zombies, not to use the black goo.

CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Re: The Infected
This is essentially a new gamemode suggestion with how much of the game dynamic this would change, denied.
