More starting equipment for marines
Suggestion Title:
More starting equipment for marines
Summary:
This suggestion about refitting of box'o'internals such as: replacement of standart mask with gas mask and blue tank with yellow, already filled to it's capacity, addition of pills of dylovene and tramadol, gauze and ointment, crowbar. Box icon could also be replaced with one with red cross. Also box capacity could be extended up to 8 items to allow addition of quick clot injector.
Benefits:
Modern marines have mentioned equipment (except for crowbar and air tank) to treat their wounds and survive chemical attacks. There is no reason to not have it for spess marines. Also it will prove useful for marines when they are missing field medic in squad. Crowbar... you know, yelling for engineer right at shuttle dock to open doors when station is out of power is lame. Filling tank and replacing it will allow not to run for canister at round start every time with risk of releasing gas and will extend time which marines can spend in hazardous environment without seeking for canister again. Adding this won't hurt much, because if marines think they can go without medpack (which is unlikely), they can simply throw it away.
Details:
Just adding new items into box, possibly extending its capacity.

Marines just end up stealing the Nostromo's gas masks. Not sure if i get a +1 but if i do i'd totally give it. The only thing i'd suggest it maybe removing the dylovene and tramadol, just keep some gauze and maybe ointment. The medic's job would be pretty much gone if you load a marine up will pills.

i would be all for this, those blue internals are only meant for brief emergencies and dont last long enough for even the simplest, alien free ops, gas masks make infinitely more sense and just make you look that much cooler, there is no reason we shouldnt have them when they dont affect balance anyways (no gas masks effect huggers at all save possibly for special admin spawned ones that may or may not exist). in fact what gas masks DO help with are plasma spills, certain airborne diseases and other chemical attacks, it makes overall sense we'd have some just in case.

Among giving marines gas masks, perhaps we should consider additional ammo bags, surgery kits and Defibulators in the prep room. When a squad is assigned two medics, one inevitably has to hog the good equipment, resulting in the other going without or hauling ass to med bay to raid their stuff.

I agree that we need more surgery equipment. I always have to raid med bay if there's a second medic.

I'm against Gas Masks, personally. There is a few dozen of them on the Nostromo scattered about anyways, from the Brig Amory, to the Engineering Foyer and every maint tunnel has a few. Gas Masks don't protect against aliens what so ever anyways, so they are cosmetic at the moment unless someone ruptured a toxin's tank, in which case the gas mask can safe you from the suffocation damage from inhaling plasma but not the toxin from it touching your skin.
Additional Medical gear is a huge yes. A way to fit the roller bed or something INTO the surgery kit would be nice so the Medic has a decent chance to do life saving field surgery if need be. Medic's IMO don't get enough gear to properly handle a 10+ person squad, even if there is two of them.
If you to be realistic, Modern (US) Military all carry an IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit), this could easily replace the Internals Box everyone starts with: 1 Quick Clot Injector, 1-2 Bandage stacks, 1 ointment, Breath Mask + Tank and an MRE or something taking the last 1-2 spots.

I also think they should be given gas masks at the beginning.
You already look retarded with the helmet on.. might as well give us the gas mask so we look kind of cool

I will decide on adding extra equipment to the sulaco.
