Czech hedgehogs Suggestion

Post by Letholldus » 07 May 2017, 10:58

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Greetings, long time player, new to the forums, at least with making an account. I've been lurking for some time though. That said I had a small suggestion for the implementation of Czech hedgehogs (Tank Traps) which would function the same as racks in a sense. As you know the marines love using racks as blockades to slow down the enemy or reinforce barricades. They heavily remind me of Czech hedgehogs and gave me the idea of suggesting them. They would function the same as a rack does, allowing marines to fire over them but they cannot be walked over. However they would be far more durable than a normal rack, and take longer to set up.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): It'd give an alternative to the rack method that is more immersive and effective (though likely more limited and expensive) and add a small but not overwhelming addition to marine defenses.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): I'd imagine there'd either be a sort of 'kit' for engineers filled with like 5-10 that you activate to start building. Or you could simply make them from a metal (or plate steel) sheet. They'd be able to take more hits than a shelf, allow projectiles to be fired over them, and block movement through them at the cost of being more expensive and taking longer to set up. (Or however you would want to do it if implemented)

For those wondering what a Czech Hedgehog is. It's a large metal obstruction used to block tanks, vehicles, large moving objects, and in general inhibit movement for anything trying to get around them including troops and will often be wrapped in barbed wire to increase effectiveness against said troops. A picture is provided below.

So basically tank traps.

I don't like cute things.

Good hunting.

Just a heads up, y'may wish to clarify what a "czech hedgehog" is somewhere so people don't think it's a shitpost (didn't know what one was before I looked it up). Beyond that, yeah more stuff for combat engineers to do is always fun, and I'd love to see them ingame as opposed to racks (which are sort of ugly).
