preflight check procedures, airtank+mask lockers, etc. ondropships, to prevent the terrible tragedy of ds1 from repeating

Post by misto » 04 Jun 2017, 23:00

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): shipfuls of brave marines died needlessly due to lack of oversight and basic caution. please add supplies aboard dropships and encourage preflight check procedures to prevent this sad day from repeating

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): although its an interesting sort of event to have happened, it cut down dozens of marines without the aliens even getting to have fun doing it, so please consider it, for the benefit of the gameplay experience of both teams.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): a pred died near the dropship and destroyed the shutters. loads of marines died in transit as command kept using the damaged dropship, because all the air got sucked out and suffocated the marines who didnt realize they were walking into a death trap

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): put some airtank+mask lockers in the walls of the dropships, have the computers perform preflight checks to the shutters and windows and etc. and warn of lack of air seal.

or uh i guess just make the shutters invincible, but thats not as cool

-1. This rarely happens since the only situation where it could happen without admin intervention or grief is a pred explosion.
If marines are too stupid to not get on an airless dropship or call for an MT then they deserve their fate, especially since this scenario is so rare.

Was this about the predator blowing up DS1?

yes stephen

even civilian airliners have higher standards than taking off with holes that size in them, and they dont even go thru outer space

I don't quite understand. Did the transit shutters get destroyed?

By my guess...yes

Anywho...kinda a redundant suggestion seeing how air pressure kills rarely.

kills rarely? good grief. can we get some people who actually saw/played the round in question in here? yes, the dropship shutters were destroyed. dozens of marines either trying to evac or reinforce suffocated to death in transit as command kept sending a pilotless dropship up and down (the other dropship had apparently been rendered inoperable by badmin pranking?), malfunctioning comms making protests, warnings, or calls for help ineffectual.

Heh...I was on the round where it happened, I was also the first wave to endure it

I survived...not much damage. This rarely happens, it has to be very unlucky for this to happen.

This should be a bug report, TRANSIT shutters are supposed to be indestructible.

then by all means, move it to bugs, because they clearly were not indestructible
