Make praes glow like boilers for a VERY short time after resin spit.

Post by Sneakyr » 09 Jun 2017, 00:38

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
See title. After a resin spit, make praes glow for a very, very short amount of time so they can't sneak up in darkness and spit.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
A nice, small bit of balance to resin spit that doesn't make it useless or nerf it into the ground but does give marines an idea of where the spit is coming from.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Sticky resin is an awful thing for marines to navigate. Some correctly-placed resin will prevent marines from regaining lost territory or retreating. Praetorians shouldn't have such an ability to perform from the darkness when they already have a pretty good acid spit that they can shoot from the dark.

!!HOWEVER!!

The duration of the light should be VERY short. It should exist more for marines to see where the prae is spitting from, but not to shoot at it without having to push forward.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

Do you mean as in "why is the prae glowing" or for some other reason? I'm really not sure about this suggestion myself, but I do want to see community opinions.

the prae glowing. does the resin make him glow? if so, does that mean we have to make the resin glow now?

I much imagine that the question was rhetorical, but no; resin should not glow.
I'm going to leave this suggestion here for people to either discuss or ignore. In truth, yeah, glowing doesn't make sense, but as a gameplay mechanic I feel it works quite well.

i believe that there is a fine line between the lore and gameplay of CM. Stray too much from the lore and it breaks the immersion of the player. Sure it balances the gameplay, but would it break the immersion of the player? I believe this is walking over that fine line.

It does make no real sense for them to glow.

I agree with you, but I still get the throbbing sensation to grief you whenever I see this.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

-1 overall, there is not much sence to it. The acid aliens use do not actually emit light, it's pretty opaque (Or so, the actual gel they used was made that way).

Overal, it'd be quite a debuf to praes which have finally returned as an important caste with good all-around abilities once more.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Denied.

This doesn't make sense as to why a Praetorian would glow like a Boiler.
