Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): you have a working limbs and limb severing system in place for humans, why cant poor impoverished xenos have limbs too?

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): both teams can now enjoy the endless fun of having their limbs removed

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

since it would be too cruel to make them defenseless if both their arms are shot off, and too cruel to make them fall over immobile if both legs are shot off, let us say that all xenomorphs can crawl with their arms and scratch with their legs, for the purposes of this post.

each lost limb would decrease their speed somewhat, only rendering them very slow/immobile if they become a limbless torso.

having your tail shot off disables tail attack power

having your head shot off is bad news even for xenos, uh oh!

even if rendered limbless they should still be able to spit, screech, and have a bite for a melee attack

xx plasma cost to regen your lost limbs

since the charger's whole gimmick is centered around their mobility, armor up their limbs as you see fit

since carrier's whole gimmick is centered around throwing huggers, armor up their arms as you see fit

etc etc

It'd be a neat gimmick for specific castes to have weak points at certain places, but that would just become another tedious meta strat instead of something cool/fun to do. Unless it were randomized every round, but that would make no sense whatsoever.

On top of the spriting/coding work this would require, and how annoying switching what body part your aiming for mid combat is, I'm gonna have to -1 this.

I doubt we're ever going to do this. Losing a limb would mean death for a Xeno, especially a leg which would logically cause them to collapse or move extremely slowly. Obviously, a headcap would be instantly lethal. Small Xenos are already brittle enough and go down to a small amount of focused fire. Large, evolved Xenos take more effort (as they should) and can stall the Marines if handled badly. While we can make adjustments here and there to make sure that no caste is overwhelmingly powerful, making big castes this weak with no counterpart would completely shaft the Xenos

It should also be noted that Xenos can get crippled from damage already, they move slower when wounded and any amount of damage blocks plasma regeneration until fully healed. In my opinion, this is already enough. Marines seriously underestimate how fast they can gun down Xenos in most conditions, and being wounded as a Xeno puts you in a very dangerous situation (closer to going into crit, no plasma regen, move slower so harder to escape if you take more hits, more risk from large damage attacks like explosions or spec weapons)

Huh, I suppose that could make an interesting mechanic actually.

I do feel like it would eventually just become a tedious hurdle that's done every round, or it would screw the marines on low pop with no researcher, but I could also see it being pretty fun.

Yes, please. +1. This would make combat with xenos much more fun. Their limbs shouldn't explode off until they're near dead (about to fall into crit), and even then, if it's only one limb the xeno can keep on fighting, even with their acidic blood spraying everywhere.

There's examples of limbless xenos still functioning all around in the lore.

Hell, legless xenos even crawl towards their prey in an attempt to bite them, terminator-style.

This isn't a bad idea. Have a randomised weak spot for each caste and give the Researcher clues on where it is, but require three bodies for a definite answer.

Let's say it's the right leg, for a Runner.

Clue one: "You can discern a weakness somewhere below the head....."

Clue two: "There's some sort of fragile spot in one of the legs...."

Clue three: "Eureka! There's a flawed bone structure in the Right Leg!"

And by hitting the weak spot, the Xeno receives more damage than normal. It seems like an idea that rewards research and aiming at the correct limb.

Xeno dismemberment will never happen because of how many different poses each xenos can make. Unlike humans who have a single pose, standing, that's just rotated 90 degree to do the dead/unconscious/resting poses.

*slaps Jjsa* get a hold of yourself. Anyway, I'm not against randomized weak points since that itself would ensure Marines don't fucking meta the shit outta it. And if Marines try to do the procedure themselves, wellll I think the staff can see where this is going.
