Drill Sergeant Role
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
We all notice at some point or another that bald private with the rifle loaded with AP rounds, we all do, but how to prevent that from turning into FF?
So i thought, why not have a role SPECIFICALLY MADE to train new players?
To explain mechanics ICly, to instruct them , train them in a possible Training facility and to give the classic drill chow everybody loves from militar movies like FMJ.
From how to reload weapons to how to correctly dress up and how to salute.
This role is something that at best will provide a starting point for new players and someone to explain them the drill of a round in colonial marines.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
-Less unprepared/Fresh new players without idea how things work.
+More inmersive Training Drill and roleplay scenarios.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
The drill sergeant will or should be a role starting with rank of Staff Sergeant, a support role with the objective to be on standby to instruct new players or indisciplinated privates to perform activities to get a hold of the mechanics and to understand the background of the server, Basically a IC mentor.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Well, at first instance the basic implementation would be a role with the rank of Staff sergeant spawning in his own NCO room near CIC with a locker containing a "Drill sergeant uniform and hat" and maybe a service pistol holster.
Everything else would be up to the Drill Sergeant, of course a facility to TRAIN the recruits will be greatly apreciated if coded maybe some windows frames to "jump" or some shooting ranges.

Re: Drill Sergeant Role
We have a Wiki for a reason. It's a interesting idea and all, but it's not necessary.

Re: Drill Sergeant Role
They would be ignored for most of the round and would serve little purpose, no matter how nice the idea behind them is.

Re: Drill Sergeant Role
I wouldn't mind this role existing, they could do the work of the mentors far more effeciently in an IC way. This should be a whitelisted dual role however.
(So they are not useless while new people are not online)

Re: Drill Sergeant Role
The idea is interesting, but drill sergeants wouldn't be around on an active military vessel embarking on a mission. You usually only see drill sergeants in training camps. -1

Military police and SL should already fill this function.

Yeah, could have a Senior Enlisted Advisor as one of the SOs.

Re: Drill Sergeant Role
I'm going to lay out why this won't work.
First of all, you are assuming that a mentor will want to play this role. Besides that fact, what is there to teach ICLY for a marine? How do you explain to a player who genuinely DOESN'T know how to remove the safety from their weapon "Yeah you have to do this keyboard combination to unlock the safety on your gun." You can't explain most marine mechanics to them ICLY.
There is no point of LOOCing to them either as that is ALL you would be talking as. It would be easier to just ahelp your question as a new player.
I had more points and I'm sure that a lot of the -1's above also apply but I'm tired right now and can't list them all.
