"Safe Space" Law

Post by Asada Ryou » 27 Jun 2017, 16:57

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
This new insulting superior officer bit is insane, I get that it is supposed to be realistic but it can be abused to the point of insanity. For instance I have had a person brig me once for making a suggestion. I get the whole bit of "Just don't insult them", but excuse my language this is some "Safe Space" Bullshit.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Make people mutiny less, increase marine efficiency, people can joke around again and not be in fear of being abused due to someone feeling "Insulted".

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): More jail cells would be open for people that actually need them (Or at least make more.) More free speech ( I get it this is the Muhreens, you get none.) The MPs would have more time to chase and do objectives that are more important than the being pressured into chasing someone who insulted command.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Get rid of the law, reduce the imprisonment time or make it a 3 strikes your out kind of law.

Revise it. It should only be enforced if the superior in question feels offended and the words used didn't have malicious intent in the context. There are ways to bend it, yes, but that's the problem. It hinges way too much on interpretation and because perspective varies, then you're shit out of luck.

-1 To removing it.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

If it can be revised then sure I am all for it, but it is just not working as of now.

I see the value in the law, perhaps it needs a revision, but it's nice to see people mouthing off to their leadership less.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

Could you tell examples that made you brigged unfairly? I haven't even seen any marine arrested for disrespect, only warned.

I was a doctor and was suggesting to the CMO that he should use peri instead of replacing his lungs or at least try it out first, he felt offended and told the MP's I insulted him and questioned his medical expertise and got me brigged. I think it should be revised with a 3 strikes and you're out kind of rule.

This is a reason we don't enforce Marine Law by "in spirit". When a law is up to interpretation, you can bend it to your advantage, and so can the enforcer. MPs would abuse their power even more if the laws were very vague. This is one of those laws that is a prime example of this. Also, as an MP, if you say something controversial, then you're a risking a jobban, all because someone's ego was hurt. That is in and of itself, a very jeopardizing position to be in.

And that is personally why I think it is bullshit and call this the "Safe Space" Law. Welcome to the SJW Ship, Muhreens.
