SO load out
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Change code Green Marine Law or remove weaponry from SO load out
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Not be bullshit
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
due to this nice little line here
Code Green - Authorized Weapons may be carried by deploying marines, security (non-lethals only), the Acting Commander and the XO only. If you have a weapon, you must keep it holstered at all times while on the ship. This applies to Deploying Marines as well.
This does not mention SO's who spawn with a pistol. Therefor it can be intended that their standard load out is apparently unauthorized weaponry, meaning as of this current round, me and the other SO's who were doing our job now have 30 minutes out of the round in the brig even if we comply. ( in for unauthorized weaponry and 'unbecoming behavior'' Absolute bullshit and completely kills the vibe. You could attempt to argue this with me, but if you wanna look at it from a game perspective- We were spawned with it, why think to remove what has been made our spawn in "standard equipment"
If you wanna look at it from a roleplay perspective, why do we spawn with it? If this is unauthorized equipment, why did we go into cryo with it in the first place, as we have to assume we would of put it on before going into the cryo tube before we woke up. You also can't argue it's for protection because the marines, the one largest and probably most competent (weapon wise) team on the ship- DO NOT spawn with their full load out. In short, this should be fixed- and should not have existed in the first place. It simply does NOT make sense- All i can see it being is a small kek by the staff to make SO's be extra careful, and give the MP's a chance to be complete dickbags, or a simple overlook by staff ( I very much hope this is the latter, because it is very bullshit that four people now have to spend 30 minutes in a small room when they were doing their job)
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Simply either change the marine law standing and include SO's, or remove the holster entirely.

edit- Now the RO is arrested
edit- Without a RO or any of the SO's, multiple marines are dieing because they have no one to order supplies or fire on OB's..
edit- We just served our full time, without the five of us the marines have now been thrown from a possible victory to a full on retreat off the planet.

Re: SO load out
+1 the marines basically lost because of this
The operation was going great until the MPs decided to arrest every SO for having the firearms they spawn with while they were working in the CIC. Fuck that.
Edit: This was the official administration response to the issue:
Why is the server spawning people and instantly making them a criminal? That makes no sense at all.

Re: SO load out
So were you posting in game information while the round was still going on? I'll leave this to see what the moderators think. Anyway, I think the way it is now is better because they can use it as protection if needed. SOs, XOs, and COs would be the first targets if anything goes down. -1johners12345 wrote:edit- Now the RO is arrested

So we should be spawning people as criminals? Once you spawn, you're violating the law.Finefire984 wrote:So were you posting in game information while the round was still going on? I'll leave this to see what the moderators think. Anyway, I think the way it is now is better. -1
Also keep in mind, this suggestion is not necessarily asking to remove their sidearms- it is asking to update Marine law to allow it OR remove the sidearms. I also agree that they need the sidearms, and wish to see Marine Law updated.

I agree that they need the guns. However what do you think about Marine Law making them having guns on spawn illegal? Would you be in favor of updating Marine Law to allow it?Finefire984 wrote:I edited it to explain my reasoning.

I did, however you also stated that the MPs were found to be following Marine Law. My question of "Why is the server spawning people and making them criminals?" still stands and is unanswered. MPs are not required by Marine Law to issue any warnings, and this inconsistency in Marine Law allows the MPs to simply snatch up all of the SOs if they feel like it and brig them, and it is completely within Marine Law.

Re: SO load out
Then you would agree with me that we should remove or edit that part of the fluff so SO's can carry their standard equipment?Finefire984 wrote:I edited it to explain my reasoning.

May I ask why you were posting IC information OOCly?
because it helps gives information, do you believe i should leave information vital to my reasoning out of the post? It does not give any boost of information to the players, it is a simple fact only focused to this post- that the fluff in question is broken and can be abused.
edit- and before you say it- no i won't be making a player report, i don't believe it warrants it or can be classified as malicious behavior, rather a player bored of playing the same person and the same shift the same way over and over, I guess it's a bit dickish, but the ic information is simply to give backstory to the high admins to understand what fully occured, as to why i posted it before the game ended, my PC as it is, is subject to overheating and crashes, and I did not want to lose my report before I could post it- apologies.

Re: SO load out
Very well, I'm not trying to point fingers or start a war, I'm simply saying that fluff was added, and the fluff was abused, I'm simply stating the marine law fluff is flawed, and this, along with the disrespect law is completely abusable and needs change ( I believe someone already made a statement on the disrespect law)Finefire984 wrote:I still have no opinion about marine law.
Regardless, I don't think the SO's should have the pistol removed- it's a good small way to defend themselves on code blue or maybe even red, however they shouldn't be removed and stacked a 30 minute or even 15 minute timer simply because they didn't remove what was given to them round start- it's broken fluff is all, a SO is a high up officer, they should be allowed to carry a pistol anyway- I mean the Liaison gets his own pistol too!

+1
Really obvious change.
Code Green - Authorized Weapons may be carried by officers, deploying marines, and security (non-lethals only) only. If you have a weapon, you must keep it holstered at all times while on the ship. This applies to deploying marines as well.
An authorized weapon is one you spawn with (or can get through your squad vendors without any special permissions).

Re: SO load out
The best way to do this is to wait for the round to be over. Once it ends you can post information about the round on the forums. Also, even if your PC over heats you can post this once it cools down. Just write the information on a note pad.johners12345 wrote:the ic information is simply to give backstory to the high admins to understand what fully occured, as to why i posted it before the game ended, my PC as it is, is subject to overheating and crashes, and I did not want to lose my report before I could post it- apologies.

Just understand that if an alien like the queen saw that, they would be able to meta and attack the marines knowing they can't get any supplies. Re: SO load out
Apop, while this can be done, it's easily abusable and is a harsh lesson if forgotten- TOO HARSH for those that are mission critical staff, it is just as easy to say that bridge officers can simply carry their weaponry around holstered, no?apophis775 wrote:Could EASILY just lock your weapon in one of the lockers.
afterall, it IS standard issued equipment, we wouldn't go into cryo in it if we simply aren't allowed to carry it around normally

I'll clarify the law so that they know they have to WARN first, but that's all.
Also, next time you post information about an ACTIVE ROUND in a suggestion, report, or post on the forum, you will receive a forum ban.

Re: SO load out
While this is true, isn't it counter-intuitive to spawn people with things they aren't allowed to possess by Marine Law? As I said above, there is no requirement for a warning to be given. An MP could stroll into the CIC and take all the SOs away five minutes into the game if they wanted to and it would be completely justified. Why not simply allow SOs to carry their firearms on all levels or put the firearms in some sort of CIC gun locker or something?apophis775 wrote:Could EASILY just lock your weapon in one of the lockers.

The MPs have to WARN them first. They can't just carry them off.
