Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Squad medic is a core critical role for the Marines, However due to the setup and rank its treated like a Dr. junior role when it actually requires much more experience than all other medical roles. Bald medics lose easily saved patients and cripple the marines especially if aliens meta-rush unique roles like SL, smartguner, and Spec. Thus something like a week restriction on medic and ooc disincentive feels warranted.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Being bad at a critical roll is not a fun experience. New players treat medic and engineer as standard+ when in reality these are the two most important roles for the marines being critical to game progression and player engagement. The ship roles effectively exist to teach the unique mechanics of these roles. However this is not clear based on how these roles are ranked and treated IC and ooc (Medics being unable to do things docs can do says that docs are more complicated to anyone who dosn't know better). Bad medics also lower doctor engagement as they never get wounded to treat.
The longer players are in the round as Marines the longer they stay engaged. Losing isn't very fun if you die through no fault of your own. Its even less fun when you die due to someone else being too new at the game. Encouraging learing in a more forgiving environment is better than playing as standered+ and ruining the round for the rest of your squad.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Just a week long prohibition on squad medic that says: Play doctor first!

I ain't feelin it. As important as medics are, doctors are a very different role all together. A doctor or mainly doing surgery or treating the people who are so messed up the medics couldn't figure out how to fix them. Its a boring job that few people want to bother with and its often got slots open mid round. When as RO I go to cryo to loot the left behind gear, I always find labcoats and other doctor gear laying around or in the machine. Forcing people to play doc before they medic is just gonna leave the marines with more cryo'd doctors and more broken bones left untreated by bald doctors. As much as you'd hate to die in the field because a bald medic not defibbing you its much worse to be left crippled and in crit laying on the medbay floor with lung and heart damage because the docs don't no shit about shit.
I'd be more in favor of just whitelisting everything that isn't a standard marine behind a wall of 3 or so rounds of standard play'd, that is if it isn't already. That way no one that hasn't at least played the game and at least learned how to put pants on can do anything silly and fuck up rounds.

I think you should play medic before doctor. As medic you can see minor injuries and have the same type of wounds countless times, so you can practice. As a doctor you often see critical or trickier ones, your main job are surgeries but you are expected to know everything a medic does.
