Uniforms

Post by mdom » 18 Mar 2015, 16:34

Suggestion Title: Uniforms

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Keep the marines in uniform. No more naked or pajamarines. Have a set of lockers with the uniform in the dorms, or have marines spawn in with their uniforms on. There isn't a good reason for a marine to be out of uniform, ESPECIALLY on a mission.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Will increase RP and cohesion among units.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Instead of having wild half naked people ion striped pajamas and bunny slippers we will instead see Marines fighting against the Xeno threat.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): I think you could either have the uniforms available for marines to put on out of the sleepers, have them spawn in with the uniform on, or make them unable to use the marine weapons without the proper outfit. This would be similar to the detectives outfit in vanilla SS13. My only fear with restricting them with the uniform would be that marines could be stripped of their uniforms by aliens. Although this is against the rules, I can see some people getting themselves in hot water.

Remember that Cryo-tubes and Sleeper tubes were used even in the actual Alien franchise. Space travel takes time, so it kind of WOULD make sense to have newly awoken marines come out of their sleepers with some sort of undergarment instead of fully dressed.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what the issue with pajamarines are here. They spawn in and get assigned, and get dressed in the assignment rooms, grab their guns, and go. If they don't, then they tend to be Rambos that end up dying pretty quickly anyways.

I have no problem with the sleepers or cryo. I just think it is a bit silly to see marines with bunny slippers in a firefight.

I would prefer that the marines should be spawned in with proper marine outfit. Honestly, who wears bunny slippers and PJ when you're 35 years old or so?

Its been proven that Bunny Slippers have excellent traction in space. And they never go out of style.

I think it would be USCM United States Colonial Marines instead of just Colonial Marines but yeah that sounds a ton better than just Pjs and bunny slippers because come one what marine wears bunny slippers

having marine guns be scripted so you would need to have marine uniforms in order to use them would completely screw over survivors AND rebels, lets definitely not do that.

that said however i do agree the PJ's are completely silly, i would have made a suggestion ages ago to get rid of them but sometimes ID's can bug even as is and with all the fighting in the lines we'd see people losing ID's like crazy left in right if they were held in the hands, even in spite of that though i just cant....i cant not go into the lines nearly naked because i feel sillier wearing bunny slippers as a full grown adult (let alone a space marine) then i do at the thought of walking around nearly naked (and since we have underwear its not COMPLETELY naked anyways)

suggestion (i will be re posting this in the suggestion forums) going off of what lorde said, We should have marines spawn with briefs, plus a Army green T-shirt with the worlds USCM on it, it would differently make ALOT more sense and work more realistically with real world real world counterparts.

Perhaps in order to wear the Marine armor, you have to have wear the jumpsuit?
