New surgery mechanic

Summary:Add a function for Sulaco medics or researchers to have the ability to cut open xenos and take the bodies they ate out and to clone

Benefits:we don't have eaten marines trash talk about them being eaten as well as something for the researchers to do(other than make grenades,prod xenos,test grenades on xenos ect.)

Details:The researchers have another important job to do in order to keep the marines alive which is to cut open aliens and bring the eaten back to the living BUT once the surgery is complete the scalpel melts and a few limbs are missing from the marine (other than the head and torso)also the researchers have no idea if an alien contains bodies or not so it's a gamble

Implementation:I may not know how to code it but I do know steps you can make:
  • scalpel
  • retractor
  • circular saw
  • retractor
  • Out comes a marine (chance of just limbs and body parts)

The problem with this is when i alien devours a body it gets deleted inside when it reaches 0 health ( Something like that) but i do agree it would bring meaning to a xeno corpse, i also know that apop is working on a alien autopsy thing in the alpha for the researcher to do.

Thatd be kinda cool and would open the way for other kinda uses for alien surgery!

+1 For me but maybe also add a limit for how many corpses aliens eat as you might get multiple bodies come out of a xeno thats eaten a lot of dead marines and i doubt the stomach could actually fit multiple marines inside of it

Yeah I agree with this. I remember playing through a round where the alien accidentally ate a facehugged marine. I wasn't really paying much attention and shot it to death before it could regurgitate the marine. I would suggest that slashing a dead alien with a combat knife a certain amount of times should cut open the stomach. It would not be of much use if you had to take the marine back to a surgery area as the marine will be consumed even if the alien dies. I agree with the suggestion but I believe the marine combat knife should do the trick.

Well if the devs do implement that your knife should get melted after cutting open the alien since xeno blood is acidic right?

I believe it becomes acidic when it comes into contact with the air so it should really melt the knife away

Fun Fact: The Xeno's stomach dissolves marines fast. That's how they can eat so many humans. They are not humans nor do they have human stomachs.

Ya know. Medbay -can- pre-scan marines to clone them if their body is not recoverable... why marines don't think of this, i don't know.

Never knew that....next time I'm Doc i'm just gonna call everyone to medbay for that purpose.

Its mainly a logistics nightmare, now that I think about it. We have enough trouble getting marines to get in line at the LO area, I have no idea how we'll get them to get into a cloner, one at a time.

Get the mps to have them lined up to the cloner OR just use the priortiy message saying "EVERYONE GO TO MEDBAY TO GET SCANNED FOR MEDICAL PURPOSES" (or just knock a few out and scan and clone EVERYONE that goes into medbay)

It did happen regularly a few months back, but the issue is that because the cloner room is set up more for cadaver cloning than for express scanning of living subjects, its doesn't really work for scanning 45+ marines. The other issue is that most marines that are killed, are killed by chestbursting, so cloning doesn't work anyway for them - Its rare for a marine to remain in a clonable position for very long, as most don't wish to remain as a ghost with little hope of getting back into the action.

with the new way bursters are selected, i think you can clone marines who burst, provided the dead marine does not become an alien. IE you burst, and another player gets your larva.

You can, but it is still a rare occurrence to have both a non-alien-playing ghost and a recovered body at the same time.

+1! Maybe a rework of the devour code as a whole? I see much potential. Many times have I been devoured and felt that I should be able to whip out a grenade from my vest and detonate it as a final "Fuck You!" to the alien that ate me.
