Hidden Damn Weekends
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Ok. So this weekend we had NO ADMINS ON UNTIL SATURDAY. And the 7-Year olds and Trolls just ran rampant. Hidden weekends are (For those who dont know them) Where the server is hidden from the list. Best way to join a Hidden server is to bookmark it
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):Less fucking noobs and more Sense able RP
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):Hide the Server from the SS13 List
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Set the server to Invisible?

+1 please. It will let people during the weekdays find the server, but keep us from those just clicking to join the top listed server.

I'm working on getting more staff actually, and firing a bunch of non-active staff

Well, even with more staff, it will still be hectic. Hidden weekends could act like a break almost for moderators and admins. Being hidden from the hub means less riff raff to deal with. More mods could help with being not hidden, sure, but it is still gonna be hectic, regardless of how many staff you have. I could be wrong.

Gonna have to say as well, hidden weekends could serve as the two days where you could train a TM in a less chaotic environment instead of normal full blown chaos round.

The other thing with this
is that it means, we would have to adjust coding, every friday, and every sunday.

I thought on DreamDaemon, there is an option for hosting either publicly, or privately. Where one puts you on the hub, the other requires an ip and port?

That's just for the server browser. We are still visible on the HUB, because that is coded.

+1. I'm all in for this. tgstation did it and it worked well for them.

If you would permaban a player, you owe it to him to look into his logs and hear his side of the story. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the player does not deserve to be banned.

Agreed. TGStation isn't hidden on weekends though, isn't it hidden all the time?Juninho77 wrote:+1. I'm all in for this. tgstation did it and it worked well for them.
Still, I do think Hidden Weekends should be a good idea. Weed out the players who first stop is the server browser.

Yes, it is hidden all the time, but I believe it shouldn't really be that hard to change it back and forth.MedicInDisquise wrote:Agreed. TGStation isn't hidden on weekends though, isn't it hidden all the time?
Their reasoning was the same as this topic's: they had had enough with griefers and boneheads.

Just throw the code into a word document then just copy and paste it out and in

Re: Hidden Damn Weekends
Well, a suggestion for this is:
1.) Don't fire any staff, ever. If they are in-active, keep them. They will return and when they do, you will have an active force. The more mins you have in your roster regardless of active or not the better. Why? Because of them will be online at different times, eliminating the need to hire more and more admins and replacing the inactive ones. Quantity and Quality both go together in this I guess.
2.) Number 1.

Apparently, I think it is Unknown. Since the shortage of active staff also hangs hand in hand with how we remove staff. It's like destiny and doom.

You do realize some people uses 'last time you played SS13' redirects. As well, server may become underpopulated. I'll keep you on that.

Re: Hidden Damn Weekends
I would glady be staff this summer except i cant because being 16 is a requirment.apophis775 wrote:I'm working on getting more staff actually, and firing a bunch of non-active staff
A hidden weekend would improve all of the competent people's weekend rounds and plus any new people that happen to find the server could learn how to play and have a good round and then come back for more, to me it sounds like a win win situation.+1 from me if this is able to happen
