Nerf Survivors

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Survivors, if they make it to the marines, are basically an all access pass to rampant metagaming, something that's more likely to kill aliens than any OP flamethrower. Rules should be put into place for what survivors do an don't know, what they can and can't do (Just watched two survivors in full hardsuit gear walk up to the marines and tell them everything about everything)

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): This would remove another piece of sanctioned metagaming.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Some rule or set thereof determining what survivors know or don't know, perhaps based off of their spawn location. This includes what the survivors are capable of, as it currently seems like it's pretty much non-regulated when a survivor hacks doors, heals troops and removes larva, because they've "Survived for so long surely they must have picked it up by now"

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Simply changing the rules would do it.

+1 to this. I would perhaps like to see survivors be more antagonistic to marines, rather than help them whole-heartedly. I think it would make for a fun little encounter.

No matter what route the RP rules are taking into, I do want to see official ruling on survivor knowledge/actions.

Survivors should have hidden objectives.

Ex.

Start a mutiny and take control of Sulaco
Recover hand tele, etc etc.
Assassinate John Doe
Disable Singularity

Not all survivors, but there should be a small chance.. after all they work directly for the research station.

+1 However.... HELL NO TO DISABLE SINGULARITY that would lag the server and ruin the round totally. Cause it normally makes it way to the A. Nostromo or B. The Sulaco cause Z levels

Survivors have a pretty low survival chance..even more when there are alot of starting xenos or they make a quick hive

Rule 3, use the areas that aren't near main corridors, where its unlikely for something to spot you by chance.

Survivors as a role in general are fucking terribad. The entire code was made on scratch by the old powertripping host called Jagger, and wasn't really ever expanded upon or reworked in a sensible way from what i understand.


They are naked humans that spawn on the nostromo, and that's it pretty much...

Survivors, it seems, tend to go one of three ways:
1)Get rushed by drones and facehugged almost immediately
2)Hide in closet until marines arrive
3)Break into EVA and hide in space until marines arrive.

Options 2 and 3 end up with survivors telling marines everything they need to know or just dying (Should they choose to panic and shoot marines out of fear/surprise).

Maybe what they say "Barely affects the round" or maybe not, but it feels incredibly weak to have such an important rule, the metagaming rule, bypassed with absolutely no other oversight at all.

Survivors need retooling overall. I can support what the survivors know, but some other things...no...hell no! If a survivor sees a Drone, they're basically dead, and need all of the resources availible to them. Fuck, they even start with damage and no jumpsuit! I'd never survive without hacking, unless I wanted to just jump into a locker (which is lame as hell.) Taking away certain skills, like hacking and shooting, would spell death for marines since seeing a Drone is alone a 50-50 chance of death. Considering the odds, I'd allow them to have whatever needed to survive. Now, limiting their knowledge to prevent metagaming I have no problem with, but don't make an already difficult task even worse.

Once again.

Make Survivors have Neutral objectives that effect both aliens and marines.

They don't want the marines completely dead, but they don't want the aliens gaining the META knowledge to easily wipe out the aliens.

I like this idea. I think something should be implemented on round start where it says things such as "You remember seeing an alien burst from their chest..." like when you're unconscious and you have the sort of dreams. This would possibly help with cutting down on the "They use spiders to plant aliens inside of people they have a queen and different types of them and they have a hive" crap.

Just as an update, we will be doing something different with survivors very soon, where their knowledge, jobs, and starting items will be altered. So sit tight and wait for implementation.
