Rule Suggestion: Don't mess with SSD people in sleepers.

Post by Officialjake » 31 May 2015, 03:27

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

Make it against server rules to mess with SSD people aside from putting them in sleepers. This means so killing, kidnapping, stealing from, or in general interacting with SSD people aside from placing them in sleepers.

All too often people steal an SSD LO's ID for Lulz and give themselves access to everything.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

Will reduce potential for greifing and other mischeif.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

As described in the summary.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

Write it into stone and let it be so.

EDIT: I didn't intend for this to take IC issues into an OOC issue. ID theft is an IC issue. Stealing and ID to get guns and randomly kill marines is an issue that is handled administratively.

-1 Server is based around RP, if someone falls insane in war nobody from either team goes, "Hey looks like he's not home, better not touch him." or "Hey that guy I barely know looks like he's not home right now. Let's prioritize getting him across the ship over doing my normal duties." This is a rule more frequently seen in low RP or medium RP servers because of how it is bad for RP.

It is also difficult for admins to watch and have to deal with. Do you really think that admins want this kind of rule to have to watch and administrate. "Hey look that alien killed a marine that seems to have been brain-dead. Better ban them." or "Hey look that marine went SSD and a facehugger somehow ended up on them, better check logs." or "Hey marines have shot an SSD alien in the massive hive they were burning. Better ban em." or "Hey look the Bravo medic is SSD, better force a marine to take them all the way back to Sulaco and leave their team with one less man."

I don't intend for this rule to force people to drag SSD people back to the Sulaco. The main intent is to stop people from stealing ID's or other equipment for the purpose of greifing. There are plenty of legit reasons to take items from an SSD person and that is perfectly acceptable.

Jesus people, its best to just go with this
"Do not interact with SSD Marines at all expect to carry them to sleepers, the expection is the aliens BUT ONLY IF THEY ARE NOT IN SLEEPERS, AND DO NOT REMOVE THEM FROM SLEEPERS"
And in return, make a code so if a marine is brain dead and in sleeper, counts as "DEAD" or etc, so aliens won't have to go around sleepers and kill them...

Marines in sleepers do not count toward the number of alive uninfected marines.

Yet the aliens still pull them out and slash them to death...

-1. This rule would be... Hell to enforce.

But that's not why I don't like it. It's mostly because if you go braindead and someone steals your ID - in my opinion - that should be an IC issue.

If you would permaban a player, you owe it to him to look into his logs and hear his side of the story. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the player does not deserve to be banned.

SSD Marines already register as 'dead' in terms of alien victory, so Aliens have no reason to bother them unless they believe an active marine is hiding among the sleepers.

Personally, I strip a Marine of anything they did not spawn in; Armor, Helmet, Headset, Belt, Weapons, Boots. I leave them with their Jumpsuit and ID, but that's about. LOs are worthless anyways so... I really don't care if someone steals their ID.

As someone who mains LO, I find this offensive a statement.

Anyway, if a rule were to be created it would have to specify what things specifically, 'cause do to there being no backpacks on the sulaco (someone should really fix that) you have to rob ssd's in sleepers for them.

This rule suggestion already applies to General Rule #1. Either a lot of you are not reporting enough or we just have a playerbase that doesn't report or adminhelp.

No griefing
Griefing - Defined as the perceived intent of one player wanting to cause grief to other players or to the server without any roleplay or reason. The emphasis is on "intent". If an admin determines that the player's intent is to break roleplay, the player should expect swift retribution. Any damage to the station or players caused by griefing can be repaired at an Admin's discretion.
Examples of Griefing:
A marine grabs a gun and immediately starts shooting other marines for no reason.
A player attempts to break the ship or release the singularity for no reason.
Harming other players (of the same species) at the end of the round. Marine vs Xeno is fine.
Examples that are NOT Griefing:
Two marines get into a fight over something and start throwing punches at each other.
Two consenting marines want to roleplay a situation that ends with them attacking or killing each other.
A Mutiny, that began with RP elements (Not just a murderbone rampage)
A distraught Survivor shoots at an approaching marine and runs away.

It's not directly stated, but I see how it can be called grief. I personally just throw SSD people into the Dorms/Cryo because I main as a Doctor or MP and it is in my RP to get the useless out of the way. But I still do not think it should become a rule in the large aspect to enforce it. Stealing a LO ID is already a rule, punishable to the LO and the griefer, but common marine ID's who cares!? Let them get punished IC'ly with a 5-minute brig.

It simply could be like in every other server that when a player enters a long-term storage, no one can take them out besides themselves.

Eh, i don't think this needs to be a rule.

For the aliens to reach the sleepers and infect easily, they'd have to already be fighting past the bridge, or be on the sulaco in force.
