Slash Walking Needs to Not be a Thing

Post by Adjective » 01 Jun 2015, 22:16

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

During multiple rounds, a marine whether alone or in a group can be captured by a rushing Ravager/Warrior managing to tackle them down and then just disarm and walk with them at the same time. After reaching a safe distance, the Ravager/Warrior just proceeds to slash and walk at the same time. Effectively creating a moving, inescapable death.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

Marines would not longer die to what I like to consider the cheapest most inescapable death an alien can deal.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

I think that they should put a walk timer on aliens and marines using attack swings so that they cannot both use an action and walk. With aliens like the Warrior that are able to pull and attack with their ridiculous movement speed. It just makes the alien impossible to escape once you are captured. It would make the Aliens that yes I do main as a more fair class to Marines ((Funny cause they get nerfed excessively and W:L is 2:6 now)).

Go get one of your friends and drag them across the floor with 1-Hand. Now run with said friend at a steady speed for 10KPH. Now go get a bunch of other friends to chase you and attempt to catch you without you losing the friend you are dragging. Now get a baseball bat and attempt to beat said friend you are currently dragging while maintaining the run at 10KPH while avoiding being captured by the ones that are chasing you.

Best metaphor I can make for you.

So are you saying aliens should only be able to attack while stationary?

The most common solution to this problem is prevention. Try sticking with your squad and staying away from aliens.

That is the problem. A marine can be with a full squad and a Ravager or Warrior is both quick and tanky enough to knock a marine over and proceed to drag slash them. If this is going to be a thing they should have a chance of dropping the marine or for the marine to kick it in the face and paralyze it for a second.

Except I am not an inhuman monster with claws to have better traction with. And the ravager is much larger than a human, so its more like having a bear drag you off and maul you. Which they can do. As for beating you over the head, I think it should just slow you down if your grabbing hand isn't equipped as you pull, because that means you aren't pulling as hard as you could be.

As for disarming, I think of it as them tackling you and then shoving you forward repeatedly, or just pulling you off your feet when you start to stand up.

+1, but on a different level altogether.
Pounce and alien disarming is overpowered enough as it is. Disarm chance and duration for aliens should not have the same equation as the Marines. Slash walking is fine.

These are Xenomorphs we're talking about, not some teenager with a baseball bat.

If you remember the film, aliens easily run off with people. Private Hudson gets effortlessly dragged off by an alien with two of his squadmates trying to pull him back.

I'm fairly certain, moving while attacking, is like, combat 101 for everything ever...

Yes, but aliens can also punch an inner-mouth through your skull in a half-second, we don't exactly have the most canon game here.

Careful what you say, I've been trying to figure out how to work that in...
