Mortars

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): With the ground map coming up we finally have a place to use something no military would function without,artillery.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): This is subject to change by whoever has better ideas but the basic outline would be to have short range mortars.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):These would probably have a range limited to about one extra screen over. They would fire various rounds from frag to smoke to napalm and possibly HE for trashing buildings and will be fairly innacurate. The system of firing I think would either be something like the sniper rifle in bay or possibly based on coordinates,giving a marine a GPS to read them off to the operator.it would probably be mostly innefective against moving aliens but if they turtle up it will force them to at least send out a few to strike at the mortars. Obviously this will need a ton of balancing but would add a lot to the game,

That would work for the ground map but for the map we have no no way unless you want to vent the whole ship

Yeah,I'm aware considering the ship has a ceiling,we would also need to limit them from firing out of buildings,perhaps they can't be placed on tiled floors. Either way waiting for the ground map will give someone time to code if they are up for it.

No. There's a plan for something similar possible, but this won't happen for a VERY long time.
