Retractable and Extendable Stock M41A usage

Post by Dragon2323 » 20 Jun 2015, 11:48

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

The M41A is capable of being used with a retracted, otherwise compacted, stock, at a length of 27 inches, but with the stock extended at 33 inches. With the pulse rifle not carrying it's "theatrical" magazine capacity, of 99 10mm rounds in a box magazine, and instead a thirty to thirty five round magazine, it seems like with its fire rate, you could use the M41A one-handed, at least from the hip, with a retracted stock, and two-handed with the stock extended.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

Marines would be capable of using the M41A one-handed alongside a shield or the sort - but would most likely suffer artificial accuracy penalties or a slower firing rate, such as how the M4A3 takes a moment to cycle before you can fire it again. This would be helpful in moments where a Marine's left or right arm is incapacitated, allowing them to use a weapon still at their disposal.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

A Marine who extends the stock of the M41A and carries it with both hands would have significantly increased accuracy compared to the M41A with the stock retracted and being fired one-handed. They would have the proper fire rate, instead of being forced to wait until it can fire again - otherwise readjusting - and would therefore be able to use it normally like we have it available currently.

A Marine who uses the retracted stock M41A with one hand would have decreased accuracy compared to the M41A with its stock extended, and being fired two-handed. They would have a slower fire rate, being forced to readjust to fire again, and would have to use it almost in the same terms of a buffed M4A3 Service Pistol.

This may also disable the ability to carry an M41A in your bag, unless you were to retract the stock.

The thirty millimeter underbarrel mounted Grenade Launcher would be nice for Squad Leaders though, whilst we're at it.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

I don't excel at coding, so I cannot provide a possible manner of implementation.

+1 I would love to use a M41A with a riot shield so i can get some more firepower than using riot shield and SMG

Accuracy I have no idea on how they would implement since you click here you shoot here(unless it's the aim feature). Sure the fire rate would be decreased to something slow like the L6 or pistol but slightly buffed. The retractable stock would be nice but in an Rp situation with 7 retracted M41as inside a backpack would be.....stupid and illogical. If it is retractable it will take up atleast 2 or 3 spaces OR it could have it that it can only fix small things in the bag.

Accuracy would most likely be represented as alterations to the miss rate, if possible. Given it's space and the size of the bags, probably a three slot bagging for one retracted M41A.

I'm okay with this idea if and only if the other guns can get some changes as well. The L6 would be even further pointless if this got implemented right now. I like the idea though.

Full gun revamp thread, then, I suppose? The L6 would be decent with a better firerate, honestly. The reload time compensates.

I think the L6 would be a very interesting gun to use if it had low damage, but a crazy high fire rate (less than smg dmg), or if it did way more damage than it does right now.

Mobile MG? Hyperfast shooting, fairly low damage? Less killing, more area denial and killing idiots who don't hear the nonstop BANGBANGBANG?

We are redoing the weapon system in alpha, but we'll take this into account.
