Admin 'clean' command

Post by Mordrehel » 28 Jun 2015, 03:30

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): In short, I want a command that'll auto delete anything useless like bullet casings or spots of blood etc

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Reduced lag from objects laying around as the server tends to do as the rounds get longer.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Think I already explained this.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): N/A

+1 Mordrehel knows what they are posting.
+1 If this goes to Staff's power it's can be useful. But PLEASE don't delete the Log :\.
+1 This work on BRP :)

P.S. I just don't know why this hasn't been implemented. It's like new round start, but keep the round playable, for those +4 hr. Horrid round.

It wasn't needed at the time, but the CM server SERIOUSLY need to take care of this, and they should already be aware.

This was truly suggested, and it did get denied. This causes more fuckload of lag. Just a slight of a change, will create more lag.

I doubt that deleting 5000 objects would make more lag than having those 5000 on the map. Mass deleting thousands of objects takes up from 1-3 seconds of a single lag spike.

Just gonna chuck this out here.. but isn't most of the lag caused from either the engines fucking up or atmos deciding to fuck up..

Easy fix. Make it a toggle. It slowly ( SLOWLY ) cleans useless things off the map and prevents them from spawning, then click it again to stop the process.

And have a continuous script then scanning every single area and object in the server, and then trying to decide which ones are useless? That's even worse... I can get why you're asking for this, but TBH, its not really that helpful as far as admin powers go. And IIRC, most of the created objects that the marines create tend to disappear on their own - perhaps setting up a similar piece of code for dead huggers would help, but thats all i can add to this.

In case it wasn't clear: -1.

No not cont I continuous, it compiles a list and deletes on the press of a button not all the time. So, single lagspike... might help?

No. It won't help in fact you'll just create more codes over codes.

Denied. Running a "clean" verb, will cause MORE LAG than leaving the stuff everywhere.
