Xenomorph splash damage
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): When a marine is meleeing a Xenomorph or firing at poont blank range they reiceve splash damage.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Adds in the factor that Xenomorphs have acidic blood which is a key Aliens franchise feature. Oinments/Burn packs are actually used because of an Alien instead of being pushing into a flamethrower or electrocution.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): If a marine begins slicing up/bashing or shooting point blank a Alien on low health their acidic blood splashes out. A 35% chance that the acid blood hits the marine or weapon. If the blood directly hits a marine it does moderate burn damage to a random limb. If it does not directly hit the marine it can land on their on hand weapon and very slowly melt it. If possible on the Alpha map on the top floor of z level the blood causes a hole down to the bottom level causing marines to damage there legs if of fallen throught.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): "Runner's acidic blood splashes out but narrowly misses Xur!" no damage or weapon lost. "Runner's acidic blood splashes out on Xur's left hand!" moderate burn damage to left hand. "Runner's acidic blood splashes on the Combat Knife!," the knife slowly begins to melt away.

Re: Xenomorph splash damage
Melee with xenomorphs is already suicide. Please do not make melee 'no, marines lose no matter what because RNG and instastuns (^:' As fantastic as this idea is there's a point where lore or gameplay have to be chosen and this pretty much makes melee an entirely new level of stupid.

Re: Xenomorph splash damage
Hmm for this i agree with the Melee part of this but not the point blank bit as.. to kill a xeno point blank you have to put in a ridiculous amount of bullets and if each bullet has 35% chance to do the splash damage by the end of the fight you would most likely be in crit..
So it's a +1 to the knife bit as that makes sense due to you actually having to slice open the xeno.
-1 to the point blank chance of splash damage.

Re: Xenomorph splash damage
If your putting a full cilp into a Xeno at point blank range their blood will splash out marines will just have to stop and take a step back and fire.

Re: Xenomorph splash damage
I get that side of it but i mean there is a significant difference ( Well that's what it feels like ) in damage meaning that if you don't point blank it, it will mostly likely fuck your day up.Screamingstar wrote:If your putting a full clip into a Xeno at point blank range their blood will splash out marines will just have to stop and take a step back and fire.

+1 To all points, i think this would add a sense of realism to the gameplay and stop people charging off so much!

-1 To everything said here, it's just complicating the things and basically a major marine melee nerf, without any positive things, maybe on the alpha, for melee, but not for Point Blank.

Re: Xenomorph splash damage
What is it complicating if you harm a xeno close range there is a chance to you receive damage or lose on hand weapon.
I have seen marines kill Aliens with a riot shield and a knife even Queens. Not only that but it is only a 35% chance you will even get splashed. The same as riot shield blocking a pounce and we see how often that works.
Shooting point blank or a tile away barely makes a damage difference unless you are using a shotgun or magnum. All marines have to do to not take splash is to step back not hard.
No positives? This is a definite postive for Aliens.

Re: Xenomorph splash damage
It means that aliens, pure melee things, if they get close to you, can't be shot or you'll die to burn damage.
That's literally a major marine nerf, and marines do not need a melee nerf right now.

Re: Xenomorph splash damage
This is corresponding with the Aliens rework in the Alpha.
I never said everytime you hit them close range you receive splash damage. It is 35% chance when they are on LOW HEALTH even then it can still miss. It either hits your weapon or you directly which halves that chance of the already low direct damage. It is only moderate burn damage to random limbs. Unless you run around knifing every Alien to death without healing than your not going to die from the acid blood like that.
Maybe a acid resistance metal can be found by marines to reinforce their armour and weapons to be immune to the acid.

Re: Xenomorph splash damage
Do you have an idea about how many bullets you need to take down an alien at point blank? About 10 bullets, that means you'll get about 2 times some fucking burn damage, for each alien, you get your health capped to the half, the alien then runs away, heals in weeds, charges again baiting you, he burns you again, you crit, he hugs you and then he runs to heal.Screamingstar wrote:This is corresponding with the Aliens rework in the Alpha.

Re: Xenomorph splash damage
eh.... I don't think so.
It would affect the balance too much and mostly just HURT the Xenos, because the marines would NEVER engage in close quarter,s they'd just run away and shoot from a distance.
