EXPLOIT:Disposal chute barricades.

Bug Description: Marines set up barricades with disposal chutes, unbreakable by ordinary strains(Who don't have terrain-deforming acid abilities), where getting caught by them leads to an inescapable(without pounce exploiting) disposal pipe loop that results in alien death.


Steps to reproduce:
1. Get caught by a disposal chute by walking towards the open end.
2. Get killed by the resulting inescapable pipe loop.

Alternatively:

1. Make a wall of disposal pipes connected to a loop of pipes in the ground, where motion forward meets another bend in the pipe.
2. Mock the aliens that get caught in your exploitative loop, as they attempt to break it down.
3. Bask in your l33t alien-killing skills, conveniently ignoring your utter absence of demonstratable skill using such an unfair method of disposing of a foe.

LMFAO -1 It's literally smart thinking, aliens that round seem to be really stupid, you could melt your way trough their flanks nice, and why can't you melt the disposals input?

-1 Like i said in the Mini chat, a exploit is misusing a bug/glitch in the game system, since this is a intented part of the game it is NOT a exploit. Like coronel says, it's smart thinking.

I was a warrior, I couldn't melt anything but vent covers. This round there were literally only 5 aliens playing, and they all(except the queen) died rushing it. Really unfair way of blocking passage. Just because there are ways around it doesn't make it fair game. LMFAO.

But this is exploiting a bug/glitch in the game system, the ability to make loops of pipe that no-one can escape from. If you tried this in real life, either the loop would be unable to pressurize properly or the object contained within would decelerate. :^) A more fair application would be making an outlet somewhere the marines would find desirable, not making it an inescapable death-trap. In any case, I don't see how this is "...a intended part of the game...", unless you really want to make the metagame stale and sour for aliens.

And this is your excuse for allowing such a blatant exploit of game mechanics? That there were ways around it? This is bad gameplay for everyone involved, the aliens for falling for it and the humans for building it. If the humans want to build a barrier, there are plenty of legitimate ways to go about it, such as building an electrified fence.

-1, you dont have to go towards the trap. its not like marines set these up 360 degrees around an FOB

and also how is this unfair but its fair for one alien to tackle spam a marine while another slashes him to death?

This is completely unfair for the reasons I outlined earlier in the thread, and is an exploit.

I understand most of the regulars here prefer to play marine, but any grievances you have against alien gameplay is best put in another thread.

Let me reiterate that, even though I got downboated 3 times for having an unpopular opinion, this is infact an exploit, is bad for the metagame, and will only hurt the metagame if allowed as good marine behavior.

The point isn't whether or not I got killed by it, which I did I do not contest, but that its allowed to be built at all. Its an exploit, it exploits game mechanics to make an impossible loop that traps anyone caught it in with buggy physics.

It doesn't matter that there were ways around, what matters is that this is an exploit. I reported this as an exploit in the bug section, please do not try to treat it like anything else. I'm not complaining about it, I did that in game and got blocked from adminhelp. This is an exploit, and if the moderation team is uninterested in banning or disallowing this exploitative behavior then that is their decision.

But make no mistake, the principle this entire trap depends on is an exploit, and I made this thread to helpfully report it.

This is the toppest of keks. I was there for when Coronel did this. They could've flanked arrivals, tool storage, the changing area, vacant lobby...but nah bri, run right into the disposal pipes, you robust spam pouncer you. Also, competent Sentinels and Drones would be an easy way to fix this. - 1

To be fair to this trap.. it really isn't that great.. as it can easily be flanked and it blocks that whole hallway so the marines can't move up but anyway when dealing with this just us e the south maint or if it's bolted use some acid on it and then go round melting all the walls causing havoc and making the trap completely useless.

Hay presto you win or you are stuck in a fierce battle for arrivals by the food and drink machines.

First.
This is in bug area, you don't vote +1 or -1 on these threads.

Second, this is a JUSTIFIED bug, and what the fuck with the negative response?

Third, this is an exploit. I'm not even sure, HOW the marines got the equipment to build this, but they should NEVER be building pipe loops to kill aliens. It's bad gameplay. Even within regular bay, most developers from regular Bay agree it's an exploit, but noone has really thought of a good solution.

I will talk to my staff about this and we will determine if we will fix this with coding, a rule change, or a mapping change in the end, but for the moment ANYONE CAUGHT DOING THIS WILL BE PUNISHED.

I find it really funny, how people assume just because Bay has left something in, it's intended. If that's the case, then there's a TON OF SHIT that would be intended, such as a non-functional Blood-type system, and half-made aliens that are just reskinned humans.
