Removing the Specialist

Post by Biolock » 18 Jul 2015, 18:30

CM Version (alpha or Regular): Alpha

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): As of now the specialist has all the cool gear and it's wildly unfair. Instead of having a specialist, we should have the squad leader spawn with a token, and be given the task of distributing the items.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): It will allow players other than an individual use the cool toys that the squads are given as well as allow a greater variety to be used in the field.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Just get rid of the specialist job and have the SL distribute the cool gear among the standards/ other groups.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): -_-

Or, better yet, everyone could just spawn with one token, or every locker has one token.

-1, they're called the specialist for a reason, and the SL would just use the token to keep the gear for themselves, and they already get their own armor.

If the SL chooses to not distribute the gear, they're super dumb since they can't use it all anyway.

So instead of having a streamlined, simple and effective way of getting gear, you want to turn it into a clusterfuck that relies on the squadlead not being a total asshat/idiot.

-1.

A specialist implies that the role is heavily trained, comparing to the idea of untrained marines taking upon the weight and functionality of the B18 armour, or untrained marines entering the equipment provided with the M56 Smartgun. It is not clever, and it is asinine. Comparing this to untrained designated marksmen trying to snipe an alien with the scoped rifle, or to untrained marines with heavy ordinance...

... bio, what are you thinking

I agree with Bio on this but i believe this may be the wrong way to go about it...as it stands couldn't we just have the "Special Weapons" Divided between different classes to equal out the squads...
