(Partially) Remove Slipping
CM Version (alpha or Regular): Alpha
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Remove slipping from banana peels and soap.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): We recently had a staff report caused by slipping. And then it all dawned on me: slipping makes no sense. It's not good from a RP perspective (seriously, who has ever slipped on a banana peel?), and I can't really think of a reason why slipping even exists, except to make clowns even more annoying. Well, we don't really need it here.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
First of all, slipping on wet/lubbed floors should be maintained. Because it IS reasonable that someone will slip on wet/lubbed floor.
As for banana peels and soap, those things are literally too small for someone to even step on it by chance. And even stepping on soap/banana peels will only make you slip if you step on it in the most awkward manner possible. Remember, marines wear combat boots which are literally designed to, among other things, be slip-resistant. I believe soap and banana slipping should be completely removed.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
In abby we trust.

If you would permaban a player, you owe it to him to look into his logs and hear his side of the story. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the player does not deserve to be banned.

... I slipped on a banana peel once.
Cartoons aren't exaggerating. That stuffs like stepping on wet ice. Worse actually, I've walked on wet ice.
Its like stepping on a toy car. The moment you put even a little weight on it, you're lucky if you don't end up on your ass.

Half my squad was obliterated on alpha a while back cause some dipshit put a peel in the one tile wide entrance to the FoB and hid it other some other crap. We ran into the FoB only to all fall flat on our faces and watch our friends get hugged and dragged while we can't give chase because we have to sort through the pile to find the banana.

@EvilKyle:
Err... No. It is NOTHING like wet ice, sorry to break it to you.
It's more like a silly game mechanics that simply doesn't fit the serious atmosphere we have in CM.

I live in Alaska, I know what walking on wet ice is like, and this banana peel was way fucking slipperier.Juninho77 wrote:@EvilKyle:

Yes, the outside of the peel is not slippery at all, in fact its decently gripping. The INSIDE of the peel is ABSURDLY slick when stepped on, and if the peel is arranged like in the game, with the inside on the ground and the outside facing up, it will give you great traction on the top, and slip extremely quickly on the bottom.

Re: (Partially) Remove Slipping
I too have actually slipped on a banana peel irl and know it's pretty hard to stay upright if you do. If the skin is against the boot then the mushy underside lubricates the floor (concrete in my case).
Regardless of how effective it is at slipping, it is pretty silly. Especially with the 100% chance of slipping if it occupies the tile. If 10 marines walked through a doorway with a banana peel on it you might expect 1 to slip on it at most.
Apop said these kind of shinannigans will be violating some new medium RP rules about to role out so I don't see the harm in just removing bananas and/or soap slipping completely, or if not then reducing the chance of slipping to about 10%.
+1 for muh immurshion

Re: (Partially) Remove Slipping
This should happen as the only team that can actually slip on slippy things are the marines so it means you get xenos dragging soap and/or banana peels and on another slipping in cm serves 0 purpose as this isn't where you expect a clown to pop out and go " hurr dur i'm going to slip over the CMo" it's where you come to rp and fight aliens and other things.

What about, just making the Combat Boots unslippable?
