Marine Victory when no Queen remains

Post by Feweh » 28 Jul 2015, 19:03

CM Version (alpha or Regular):
Alpha
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
The map is huge and it's happened a couple of times where we have a few runners/sentinels are left delaying the round. There is no possibility of a queen returning and no larva left.. It's just a massive round delay until the marines can somehow catch the last Runner.

Unlike on Nostro, you could eventually corner or run into the last remaining aliens just because the map was tight corners and smaller.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Round's are already running 3hours +
Would shorten round time and stop the wild chase when one a couple of aliens are left purposely delaying the round.
Also would help with AFK alien's delaying the round who hide off to side of the map.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Add a 10 minute timer, if no drone evolves and no larva burst to become queen the remaining Alien's fail/die from no controlling Queen

Implementation (Optional, if you have any idea how to implement it):

Coding?

I highly agree with this, rounds on alpha are simply running WAAAAY to long for their own good. Having a 10-30 minute timer for after the queen dies would be awesome.

+1. Not sure if it the timer should be as short as ten minutes specifically, but the general idea should be implemented as it's sorely needed.

The problem is that the aliens have often exploited the giant map size to just stall indefinitely, especially with Runners, when they have no chance of winning.

If there's no Queens, or aliens capable of becoming a Queen, the aliens should have a 20 minute time limit to get one before Marines score a Major Victory.

Agreed. +1, I'm getting tired of the complaints and people flaming over looc of ''ALIUM PLZ K1LL URSELF.. '' It's painful, uneeded, and needs to have this in to stop it.

I actually proposed this exact idea in staff chat yesterday. It would be a lot more interesting, and I think it would make Aliens more interested in working as a team.

Yes, this would stop rounds dragging on for hours due to one warrior ( or other alien ) being alive.

Bumping this because Proximity Sensors/Scanner are now gone..

Marines can't locate aliens using the hand held radar anymore.

On the contrary, I have had a few good rounds as a sentinel/Warrior as the last one alive, going on slaughterfests and the whole bunch of Marines looking for me, while I kill some of them, and eventually aliens either win or marines do. And literally all of the ghosts following me, having a good time. It's really fun, and I'd hate for that to not be avalible to me anymore.

It's pretty unexciting for the marines. Chasing down the last alien alive is usually pretty frustrating.

Problem is that one person is having fun while the other 60-100 people in the server just want a new round to start.

The same should happen for humans, in that if, for example, there are less than X uninfected humans on the Sulaco and there are X aliens on it then the round should end in a alien victory. Right now it's often a case of the aliens waiting for the evac ship to arrive and leave.

It's a very different case. The humans have an extremely clear base. The humans need to defend it to evacuate.

It's not a game of hide and seek. Once the aliens overwhelm the human defenses, it turns into a slaughter.

I remember one time when we had a round with a single hunter going about, though if we weren't going out hunting for it and it was instead hunting us it would have been more fun. But instead it was a wild chase that was quite boring until they were finally eliminated. I would say that something like this should be put in based on admins see how it should function.

Instead of reflecting back on history and complaints...

Can we not try to find the solution for this problem? Like...
Speaking Code Language.
If drones or Queen are not present past 13:30 Station Time, then Marine's Victory?

We've pretty much agreed on 30 minutes of no queen and it's marine victory.

30 Minute's is too long, defeat the purpose of this if you're going to wait 30 minutes anyways.

The whole point of this is to stop the late game Runner/Hunter chases.

10-15 minutes is adequate larva and drone time for a Queen to evolve. Beside's, if Xeno's are going 10 minute's without a new Queen on this map they're already fucked.. 30 minutes is a ridiculous amount of time.

How's about this. I know somewhere in your controller for the queen there's a proc that times when the last queen died, and when a new one can potentially rise. If 30 minutes pass and a new queen hasn't stepped up, marine victory. Why wait?

Well, even if there aren't larva, and there aren't drones, there's always the off chance that one of the runners/sents had a hugger left over, or could find one stashed away and use that to implant some powergaming rambo marine poor unfortunate sod who got lost and seperated from his team, burst him, and thus preserve their race. 30 minutes is enough time for this, and it's pretty much as simple as adding a statement tacked on the end of that where if after 30 minutes there is still not a queen, aliens escape into the jungle and marine minor victory, because the race exists still, but is effectively neutered.

But this is FURTHER round delay.

Let's say one runner is left and he finds a monkey or SSD marine. He facehugs said marine/monkey and a larva burst into a queen.

If it's already at this point where there's a Runner and only a Queen left... the round is already over, the Alien's won't come back from this. Now you're waiting for the marines to find another Hidden nest and the runner.

It's a endless looping of delay.

*Cough* Bumping this because it keeps happening ( Lone aliens with no huggers running, hiding, killing and then repeating that process )and something like this suggestion or somethings needs to be added to stop this type of round delay.

Happened again today, getting seriously brutal.

This map is awful for this and it's becoming a seriously time-sink.

I've had time to shower, make dinner and come back before the round ended. I was standing in the middle of the LZ for about 30 minutes before the last Runner was FINALLY caught.
