tail attack. and why it should not remove limbs(as easilly).
CM Version (alpha or Regular):alpha
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):currently in alpha i see it as a big problem that an attack that supposedly "impails" someone. can instantly decapitate someone. or remove one or both of their arms and legs. i am of the opinion and i think others are too that the tail attack is currently way overpowered in this regard. as it can have the ability to instantly de-limb/decap a marine. this tends to lead to incredibly one sided battles even if the the marines are smart. and working together. and altogether competent. an alien with no skill can still remove enough of the limbs from the marines easily enough that it makes it one sided.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):balance.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): i think that the tail attack should only be able to do upper/lower torso damage. as i don't see how an arm or a leg could be impaled by such a large tail. and overall the tail attack as is is just too powerful. a marine with no legs/head/arms cant fight and medical gets so swamped that even losing a single arm or leg instantly puts the marine out of action as medical gets too swamped to actually help anyone with woulds as bad as limb loss. now while aliens should still be able to remove limbs. they do it far too easily. as a single hit is enough to remove a limb. and for more ways to describe while it is op. i once got instantly decapped by a runner(i was 100% fine before this). and I've seen entire squads of marines go down to a single alien. using tail attack. because they can instantly remove heads/limbs in another fight. once when the aliens were attacking the sulaco. one ravager. de-armed(removed both the arms/hands/broke them) from eight out of thirteen marines it was fighting alone(although it was a really robust skilled player against lots of new players. he couldn't of done it without instant de/limb).none of these marines ever recovered due to med bay being swamped raided and all over destroyed. anyways. it shouldant be able to do limb damage. or at least do less damage so that it does not remove limbs in one swipe.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):i've seen servers implement special attacks that only do damage to specific locations no matter where you've targeted. so you should be able to do something similar. or you could decrease the damage it does.

Tail attack is really kinda OP. Instant tackle is already very deadly, but still okay, however, almost instant de-limbing is kinda too OP. Every time I got tackled by alien who used his tail, I got quickly de-limbed. No Chances.

The thing that irks me the most about limb severing is that you have next to no chance at all to stop it. Xenos pounce and bam, you're a cripple. If you're lucky enough that your squad is close (or competent) enough to chase the Alien off before it drags you away, you're still out of the game basically for a good ten to fifteen minutes while you get carted back to the Sulaco to get a prosthetic. Conversely, if you get nabbed by a facehugger and dragged off it's basically gg for you right there, because even if you manage to bust out of the nest they put you in your character is unable to move and lays on the ground beneath it gripping the bloody nub thinking about how he should've went to College.

Not gonna lie a week or so back i was on the alpha and got hit by a tail attack and lost my head instantly so yeah.. i agree with this fully.
I wouldn't mind as much if it actually impaled you on the tail ( would look like an alien had grabbed you but you would of been hit by a tail causing damage and grabbing you. Not sure if it that makes sense but eh.. )

I agree with this fully. Maybe at best it should cause some internal bleeding or bleeding or just a mass buff in damage since you know.. You just got impaled by a xenomorphs (A being designed to kill) tail

Decaps don't even make sense for an impaling attack.
I agree, a chance of fractures + internal bleeding perhaps but severing limbs is silly.

Internal bleeding/fractures makes the most sense.

I personally think the tail attack should be about as effective as a slash, maybe less for balance purposes, but work at a two tile range. I mean, it is a tail, and aliens are rather flexible with their tails and they are long. I am unsure of the damage mechanics, but I think the decapitating is done because of the high damage the tail attack does. I could very well be wrong about that though.

Perhaps make it so that the tail attacks can only be used against the torso to "impale" someone. That way it retains its high damage but no longer can be used to pop peoples limbs off.

It would make sense tier 3 ripping off people limbs with their tail since they're the biggest xenos around, but lesser castes? Nah.
I've also tested the tail attack myself, and found hard to remove unprotected limbs with it. Not sure if just unlucky or what.

Unlucky, Aeleto. Cause when I was under tail attack, my limbs fell off from first try. Every fucking time from first hit!Aeleto wrote:It would make sense tier 3 ripping off people limbs with their tail since they're the biggest xenos around, but lesser castes? Nah.

I think it would make more sense for a tail attack from an alien to penetrate and cause bleeding instead of REMOVING limbs. I don't know if bleeding is more overpowered but I'm just speaking from a realism stand point.
