Even at endgame, I still saw Xenos attempting to infect and nest first, except for the ravagers which just went aggressive alone and died, but they weren't the best players, and more importantly ravagers in lore are not really about infesting.northcote4 wrote: Definitely agree here.
And before someone inevitably says 'But hug-decap is what they do anyway', they need to remember that that's usually only the endgame. And by that point there's already those 20 non-bursting hosts.
Perfect example: I had a guy infected, and nested, and then snuck up behind the group with a shotgun. I ripped his head off, because I'm not dealing with that nonsense. We had a few pops while assaulting the shuttle, but most were planetside, and like 25% were SSD.
If you're in a secure base and we can keep all the major weapons from a marine, I'm inclined to just re-nest them as needed. But if you fight back with a weapon and especially explosives, you're not going to be treated well.
