Weyland-Yutani PMCs
Summary: Add a Nuclear Operative type Weyland-Yutani PMC squad with some non-violent or low violence objectives.
Benefits: It'd actually give the MPs something to do and worry about, as well as any non-combat personnel. I know a lot of people who would love to play this.
Details: Start out five PMC's with some preset armor, and allow them to get ready for some of their multiple objectives, such as capturing marines/survivors/aliens, stealing things, assassinating someone, maybe protect their secrets and the liason, or just assist the marines. Not necessarily evil, but they could be given their objectives. I'm open to more ideas.
Implementation: Modify the nuclear operative code (if you still have it) to make it more Alienish.

Issue is that as it is we only have one round type. This would be nice to see as a separate round type, but I do not see this being very popular if we simply integrate it with the current one.

PMC Gear and their 'select equipment' was around during classic for events like these, it's possible but I don't know what they're planning.
EDIT: Although, +1.

Basically this, PMCs are in the game but nobody know what's apop's plan.Shriden wrote:PMC Gear and their 'select equipment' was around during classic for events like these, it's possible but I don't know what they're planning.

Re: Weyland-Yutani PMCs
You almost summarized my original plan for them perfectly. In my plan, the PMCs are individually on-par with the marines. Their objectives determine whether or not they could come into conflict with the USCM. Regardless, they are unable to disclose their objectives, and they rely heavily on diplomacy and trickery instead of brute force.RehabBaron wrote:Summary: Add a Nuclear Operative type Weyland-Yutani PMC squad with some non-violent or low violence objectives.

The Liason would be given a matching headset in his office. This would allow him to contact the PMCs and assist them from his end.
In a sense, like you said, they're neither a outright hostile or friendly faction towards the USCM. I think they'd be great for RP and they'd be a cool after-release addition to Alpha.
Of course, that's just my own personal opinion.

To me it feels similar to vox raiders, where the objectives can be harmless or just straight chaos against a station, and you have better tech. Maybe apop is planning something big? PMCs went low on the radar for quite a while.

What if the liason could act as a defacto Overwatch Officer from his office? Perhaps during such rounds he'll spawn with a laptop that he could use to order gear from Weyland Yutani or have the Sulaco send gear to the PMCs.SecretStamos (Joshuu) wrote: You almost summarized my original plan for them perfectly. The Liaison already has a computer on his office desk, although it wouldn't be hard to add one to his inventory or his room in the chance that the roundtype was selected.Edgelord wrote: What if the liason could act as a defacto Overwatch Officer from his office? We did this once... Extermination Squad at the end of the round yesterday...In my opinion, it was okay.

Extermination is a job for the Weyland Yutani commandos, not the PMCs.UnknownMurder wrote:We did this once... Extermination Squad at the end of the round yesterday...In my opinion, it was okay.

Literally this.
We have our own fucking staff now, who are already making the players think PMCs are outright hostile appearantly...

Re: Weyland-Yutani PMCs
The DMIs for the Commandos are on the server. I have no problem if the players shoot at the Commandos on sight, as they're basically an extermination squad.Felkvir wrote:

But you're absolutely right. The playerbase shouldn't be made to think the PMCs are some evil group. They should be neutral-antags.
