I'm glad to see that this suggestions has been well received in the months since I left the community.

NUKING SPACE ALIENS FER SPACE JESUS!
On a more serious note, it does have a lot of RP prospects. I'm thinking that some chaplains could even hold a mass (for religious Marines) before going into battle.

I'd really like this and I wouldn't mind having my marine character myself having a spiritual guide like this, but I just don't think it would work tbh, unfortunately.

The only time I ever see the chaplain ever is when I get dragged into the church as a vampire or something, which is usually completely meta. When I play the chaplain, I usually go with the agnostic bible, or one of the more ridiculous choices and run around smacking people with it. I think it'd be okay. What possible mechanics would this include, or is it purely aesthetic?

+1 unless it gets out of hand.

So, I've turned this suggestion down in the past, for a primary reason:

It draws people away from Marine.

The chaplain, would be an on-board role, not allowed to deploy and subject to the same rules probably as a doctor. While we are a medium RP server, our RP is MUCH more limited, and a chaplain wouldn't have many chances to interact (they'd be basically unused unless a marine came back traumatized) before sometimes over an hour in the round, and since a chief MP complaint, is that they have nothing to do really after the first bit of the round, I feel the Chaplain would be the inverse of this. They'd end up with nothing to do until either an evacuation from the planet, or wounded return. And even then, most wounded marines usually want to get healed and get back down, not deal with a chaplain.

I don't think this will fit us at all.
