Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Plan-minimum: make bridge across river. Plan-maximum: change river totally.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): - Plan-minimum: make bridge across river. Miners and scientist were working on the other beach of river, I doubt that they were crossing the river in the water to the waist every time they needed to get on other side. Bridge should be 2-3 tiles wide and has those special grill on sides. Bridge and those grills should be indestructible. Also on both sides of Bridge indestructible floodlights, one per side, like near LZ. It will make a bit easier for marines, if aliens will try to camp Bridge. And we know, they'll try.
- Plan-maximum: change river totally.
- Make it a bit wider, 1-3 tiles.
- Make it impossible for marines to cross anywhere in water.
- Leave two ways to cross river for marines: bridge and (if it is possible of course) three-tiles ford, that will spawn randomly in one of two-three places and it will change position every round. In normal water marines won't be able to cross river at all. In ford they will be, like now, with water to their waist.
- Xenos should swim in river under water (become totally invisible in water). Under water they can't do anything except moving and talk in hivemind. No pulling also.
- Optional:
- T3 can't swim. Fatties. No sudden ravagers from water near Bridge chekpoint. OR. T3 is big enough to walk on river and be high enough so their upper part of body will be above water. (Like it is now.) by XanderDox.
- Aliens still can be shot while swimming. Nerf to make marines easier to handle with camping aliens in water.
- In three tiles near light souce, (floodlight, flayer, flashlight) will appear shadows of aliens who are in water and marines will be able to shoot them. If you throw flashlight or flare in river (except ford), it will drown and disappear. It's again for balance purposes. No camping.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): - I'm already sick of situations when your squad got orders to attack hive, everyone start crossing river where they want, squad spreads up and obvious aliens fucking marines. No more such shit!
- More organised marines crossing river. As squads. As it should be.
- A bit easier to orientate for marines: checkpoint on bridge, randezvous on other side near Bridge or ford.
- One more strategic point on map, or, even, two. (Capture strategic points for gaining influence!)
- No more rembo raiding caves. You will probably will be hugged near Bridge or ford. Learn to play in team or go play as aliens.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Mapping, coding. Much of them.

+1 to both. I agree tottally. If anything they'd have made a simple bridge outta wood to cross with instead of lel walking through water every day.

I'd say large T3 aliens are big enough to stand higher than the river... So they should be able to walk through it as normal, without the hidden benefit.

-1 for the idea of making the river impassable for marines. Crossing the river feels really cool, especially because it slows you down. It reminds me of Vietnam war movies.
I'm fine with adding a bridge though.

Ford will work like river now. Also, I seriously doubt, that all rivers, especially in Vietnam, are easy to cross at any place. And our marines have much heavier equipment.
By the way, I wonder, does smartgun in battle mode (not in case) is waterproof? Same question for rocket launcher.

There are plenty of rivers that are waist high. The game already reflects the fact that the water isn't deep because the water doesn't go over their heads. It only covers their legs.
Just saying, if the water isn't deep enough to stop you and you need to cross, you cross.

And on second image we see how soldiers are following one each other, because they are using ford to cross water, and one that got off ford has water not just over legs, but near head and struggles to not fall down, helping himself with second hand, that's why he holds rifle with one hand.
That's what I'm talking about. Josh. Fords.

Or... Just make the current strong to pull marines or slowing them down if they don't decide to cross the bridge.
