Depressurization Damage is way too high

Post by Gentlefood » 13 Oct 2015, 17:03

Bug Description: I went from 0 damage to crit in about two seconds immediately following the Sulaco wall being breached by Acid.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Be a marine
2. Be near a breach when it happens
3. Die horribly without any way to stop it

Honestly, explosive depressurization should kill you in around a minute. It's estimated that you would black out in around fifteen seconds and I assume you wouldn't be able to be saved after the thirty second mark. At least not without future sci-fi medicine nonsense.

Probably should be higher IMHO because at the point of the breach you should literally be sucked out and dead instantly. You have about 10 seconds or so to make it to a pressurized area before you die from broken bones, internal bleeding, stuff like that. You probably smashed against a wall and passed out and by the time you awoke the pressure already crushed you so you just died.

That's a good point, but it's kind of hard to simulate being thrown around from the pressure in SS13. The problem is that there isn't always an obstacle to crash into so it's difficult to just slap on extra damage from the lack of pressure. On a side note, I should also mention that holding your breath would likely result in your lungs rupturing instead of keeping you conscious longer. So no getting out of the 15 second knock out with that excuse.
