Buff Resin Wall Strength

Post by HalfdeadKiller » 27 Nov 2015, 05:08

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Basically, buff the health of Resin Walls.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Would help prevent marines tearing through hives with just M41A spam.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): HP increase. Possible drawbacks would be that hives would now be near impenetrable due to the buff. More discussion on this is needed.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Code

I haven't found wall strength to be much of an issue.

Marines can cut through walls with rifle spam, but they're quick and easy to put down too.

When I play hivelord, I can build out barricades against the marines with minimal risk while constantly draining ammo. You'd need a squad with sustained fire to significantly overpower a hivelord's ability to repair. Even with the many clips of ammo marines carry you're going to go through it quickly and expose yourself to spit counterattacks.

When assaulting, marines prefer to use doors, and small narrow rooms with sticky resin and buffed wall strength would be too much imo.

There have been games where I built enough tunnels I just sealed off one of the ways into the hive with 12 layers of walls. Didn't take long to place and would destroy marine ammo reserves or waste huge amounts of time.

As a hivelord under attack from like, three marines with M41A's, they cut through walls like butter. It was semi rediculous in my opinion. Especially with the fact that hivelords are made of cardboard when compared to the damage of an M41A.

Well, you won't want just one layer of walls as protection, and you'll also want defensive pheremones up. A single hivelord shouldn't be able to hold a position against marine fire, but if you have hive support either xenos can counter attack or you can build up some decent cover.

The cover my supporting xenos were hiding behind, was swiftly removed by the M41A fire. It got to the point where there was too big of a gap for them to support me with, and I couldn't poke out to build walls without being shot up.

Walls really shouldn't be destroyable without fire or explosives.

Currently walls take no damage and are not destroyed at all by fire or explosives like flamethrowers or grenades.

Strongly disagree. Combat building would be way too good.

Holy damn, could you imagine

Last xeno standing, the Queen hides in the 4 wall deep autism fort: resin edition
I play as this guy, proudly being dismembered by extraterrestrials since 2015.
Sometimes I might play other guys, you never know.
