Implement this:

Image
The Draco Double Burner! Your go-to choice when you need not one, not two, but three weapons platforms in one! Flamethrower, assault rifle, and grenade launcher in one! (Plus it's from AVP! Woo!)
http://avp.wikia.com/wiki/Draco_Double_Burner For more details.

No, don't actually do that, as awesome as it'd be.

That's from the Aliens: Resurrection setting, which is two centuries later.

You don't need the double burner. All you need in an M41, an incinerator unit, and a roll of duct tape.

I'd have to talk to abby about flamethrowers, as they currently don't function as normal flamethrowers, but create "magic" fire.

Mhm! Alternate solution, apop: Just make them use welder fuel as a fuel counter instead of phoron, and just have it spawn a welder fuel tank with the loadout. Just click the welder tank with the flamethrower, boom, reloaded.

Uh, maybe, we can do it without "boom"? :(

As general, great idea. Though, I have my arms growing from my ass, that's why I'll never use flamer again ._.

Ok, Accepted, and here's what I'm thinking right now:

I'll lower the amount of fuel flamethrowers need
A shift from plasma to welding tanks (similar to how buckets work with water tanks).
Slightly increased damage
Slightly decreased lingering flame
Possibly light xenos on fire (I'll look into the same way the sniper rifle does it).

Sounds good?

The switch to welding fuel would be great. Although I do hope that the chance to set a xeno on fire also applies to marines for that Aliens feel.

An amount would be nice, but this is appreciated.

No real fault with this.

Slightly increased damage
Completely useless if they don't ignite xenos. "Slightly increased" from nearly zero is still nearly zero.

Slightly decreased lingering flame
Means that it's not an area denial tool any more.

Possibly light xenos on fire (I'll look into the same way the sniper rifle does it).
The flamethrower is, has been, and always will be useless until it is guaranteed or near guaranteed to actually light xenos on fire. No one fears a zero-damage weapon.

Sounds lovely. Would you be incorporating the fuel directly to flamethrower (no tanks needed) to imply that it's linefed, or via the tanks somehow taking from the welder backpack?

Also, the loadout itself (armor, etc) rather than just the flamer fuel switch/mechanics changes are accepted as well, yes?

NOTE: Please do not get the welding tank on fire. Moving Flame to welding fuel sound perfect. Hence you going to see Marine walking around with welding kit pack. But please make sure the welding kit does not blow up.

Okay, so, suddenly i realized i`m able to write here and here`s what me think:
Give this to usual Marines, not specialists.
Specialist won`t waste their opportunity to have SADARS or whatever on flamers so it`ll surely became abandoned. However, marine job is not so demanding so there is usually one or two carrying flamables. That`s why adding an ID-locked locker for a marine with special role would be a good decision, in my opinion.

Yeah, spending coin on weapon, which can't hurt two most dangerous T3s - Ravager and Queen. No Spec would ever do that. ALl other weapons can at least scare off these two, at most, they can effectively help to kill them. Only retarded Spec would take flamer.

Heres a suggestion, remember AVP that rebellion one, why no add the ability from their flamers to pour fuel on the ground as a secondary fire to the gun.

Ah, @Sars Clayton, fuel on the ground, that is a SS13 thing, all you have to do is wrench an Fuel tank and well ignite it.
Though I did not get to lighting one up though.
PS SS13 is a bit more complex and versatile, if you ever dib into the Sandbox SS13, here is a fun reminder.

Ya I know about the fuel tank, which made me think it maybe wouldn't be too hard to implement into the gun. But I meant if would be a guns special action, until you turn it off it will leak fuel on the ground and drain the ammo.

This would only be worth it if you can actually carry a huge fuel tank on your back equal to, say, 30 canisters, and even then it would be very susceptible to FFing.

Still, guys, WHAT spec will take this option, if it's can't do shit to MOST dangerous aliens: Queen/Empress and Ravager? It's would be a waste of coin, seriously.
